Middle name for Harper and...

I have whittled down my choice for a baby girls name to either Harper or Poppy ( but Dh hates Poppy.... still working on it though as he named dd1). Can't think of a good middle name though. Dd1's middle name is Grace. I thought Harper Rose was quite nice but have gone off it. Harper Poppy just doesnt't go either!
Any suggestions?

I think you need to choose a feminine middle name with Harper, which is gender-neutral and more commonly a surname.

Rose is a little overdone in the middle slot so how about something soft ike:

Harper Alexandra
Harper Josephine
Harper Rosemary
Harper Violet
Harper Evangeline
Harper Lucille
Harper Genevieve
Harper Abigail
Harper Elizabeth
Harper Caroline
Harper Daisy

Harper is really trendy at the minute (plenty of star babies with the name, not just Half Past Seven Beckham) so I'd choose a classic middle name.

You might want to consider the name Heather as well.

Definately not Lee or Seven, Yes have read 'To Kill A Mockingbird' . I quite like Harper Faith. I still love Poppy but stupid Dh won't budge!! I like Harper too but it's just the beckham association that i am not keen on.

Gwennan I take it you are Welsh? I know alot of welsh people (My family being a few of them) who think the Beckham baby sounds like Half past seven!

Dreadful name. Just awful. Imagine - you're going to be in the playground shouting"Harper! Harper! " and pretty much everyone there else is going to be sniggering at you going - OMG, the kids called Harper!

Harper is a lovely name.
I agree that a classic and feminine middle name would suit.

Harper Willow is very nice as suggested by notso.
Harper Linnet
Harper Clarissa
Harper Evangeline

But I tend to be a bit on the 'out there' end of the naming spectrum (specially by MN standards so what do I know Grin)

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere Thank you so am i. I don't want an emma or sophie as many MNers would suggest i prefer somthing a bit different and Zavi Thanks but the thread is not asking you're opinion on the names it is asking for suggestions for a middle name. We have made our choice and are happy with it. If you are the type of parent that stands in the playground with other mus and dads sniggering at other children's names then i can only hope my children do not go to the same school as your children. I will teach them not to be phased by these kinds of people.

Harper Willow is lovley Dh suggested that, It is Dave Grouhl from Nirvarna's daughters name but it is really sweet.
Thank yu for the suggestions.

Personally i think the Beckham association is to big to call her harper. I don't know any other harpers, and if you mentioned it i would instantly think of the Beckhams.

It is beckham'd forever now I wouldn't and I know a harper who is 10 or 11 and she is most put out at the association Grin. It would look like you had named her after a celeb baby

There are a few other Harpers such as Dave Groughl's daughter, middle name of the author of 'To kill a mockingbird' Neil Harris and of course the Beckhams but i guess they are more in the public eye and people who follow celebs (which is a lot) will think i of them first!
The thing is that i am not so keen on the meaning it just means harp player and my dd1's name has got quite a good meaning behind it and why we chose it so i would like the same for dc2 rather than just saying "we just liked that name on the list" It doesn't seem fair somehow.

Before the beckham thing I would have said yes as its a lovely name but I think they have made it tabloid! Not sure why but it has cheapened it and i think there will be many in the next few years at school.

I think it goes with Daisy really nicely.

Trying not to sound mean.......it's not a nice name is it? It sounds like "harping on", imagine shouting "harper" when child is naughty.
But i imagine you like it very much & are still going to use it so how about double barrelling it with a very feminine name such as Marie so as to make it sound more girly?

I can only think of Harper Valley PTA (Dolly Parton song that I love)

Harper Elizabeth
Harper Marie
Harper Joanne
Harper Samantha
Harper Danielle
Harper Elisha
Harper Alexandra

As someone else suggested Harper Willow is beautiful.

Out of the suggestions posted so far, my favourite is Harper Marie.
Marie makes a nice rhythm with the name and I can't find a way to make a joke out of it (I have the mind of a snotty 10-year-old boy). Her initials would be H.M. which tickles me somewhat :)

Or Harper Louise? When she goes through the phase of not liking her name, she can concatenate the middle to make "Pearl".
