Help us get some perspective on our shortlist with our comedy surname please!

We have a comedy surname. It's a noun and is something that footballers kick! As you can imagine we've had to discard a number of names as they just don't work. We've decide on a boy's name but are stuck with girls names. Our shortlist in order of preference is:

Molly
Thea
Jessica

Do the above work with our surname? I'd appreciate all points of view and any other suggestions. Thanks.

Molly is the one that sounds most wrong, IYSWIM. I think you should avoid names ending -ie or-y, but I can't articulate why really.
Thea and Jessica are both lovely.

I would actually flip your shortlist. I like Jessica best, then Thea then Molly.

I think perhaps longer names sound good if your surname is one syllable? And I agree that the 'ee' sound isn't great. Nor is an 'ell' sound.

I think a longer name that doesn't end in -a-, -y- or -ie- would work best.

I wouldn't choose a name beginning with an A or an I as when written as initial.surname would look comical.

I agree though that a longer christian name would work best with a one syllable surname.

I'm very aware of how initials look too as in my job we have to initial everything, we have a BO.

I agree that the longer names sound better - but you have to watch out for common shortenings... ie Felicity - Flick Ball. No. Elizabeth - Beth Ball. No. Beatrice - Bea Ball. No.

We have a similar surname and found 3 syllable names ending in 'a' work best. So another vote for Jessica here.
