What goes with Noro Kureyon as a "base" colour?

Have impulse bought some Noro Kureyon wool (3 balls refuse to say skeins ) with the idea of knitting a garter yoke cardigan (the one on Ravelry if you search "garter yoke cardigan).

But struggling with which wool to knit the rest of the cardigan - what weight is Noro? Aran or DK? Ie what is worsted weight?

Btw -asking here and not on Ravelry as the forums seem to all be vv American IFYKWIM

Worsted is usually Aran weight, although you'd really need to do a guage swatch.I've got some worsted that is like DK and some that is definitely more Aran.
I had a look on Ravelry, some people have used Cascade 220 superwash to knit the cardi, I just bought some of this from LoveKnitting, its a beautiful soft wool with really good stitch definition, and available in literally hundreds of colours.

Should add, Cascade is also a worsted weight.

I find the cascade 220 superwash is closer to dk than Aran. The 220 non-superwash is thicker and much more like Aran weight (also comes in more colours)

Yes,you're right, Petula, the 220 and heathers are the aran ones.

I don't know why that is though as they seem to be the same weight and yardage! Maybe the superwash process reduces loft or something

Thank you both! Really good to get your view on the Cascade wool - I think I'll go with that. Now just need to choose a colour.....

what is your kureyon colourway? i personally love the ones that team the kureyon with greys or greyish blues as they really seem to set it off, but obviously personal taste and different colourways will look better with other things

i love this site for looking for colours combinations. it works best for fairisle type colour matching, where you want colours that blend plus a contrast colour, but it might give you some inspiration here too?

Hi Petula - it's 267 so black to grey to lime to pink to purple and back to black. However I'm going to pull out most of the black and keep it to grey lime pink purple (sounds awful but looks better IRL) I bought it and then looked at the projects done with that colour way on Ravelry - mistake! But I'm sure it will be fine.

Footle - you are right, I should stop being lazy and find a UK based Ravelry group.

I'm on one called British Knitters, and a couple for my local town too.

there's this one which has used the same kureyon as you and cascade 220 4002 (jet black) but they haven't removed the black from the kureyon

this has similar colours with the lilac and lime green, so perhaps a dark navy might work well?

Aran is ok. I've knitted it with both Debbie bliss Rialto Aran and cash merino Aran.

Here are some projects knitted in that shade of kureyon - maybe a grey?

Aran

there was an old Jane Ellison book that had Noro Kureyon with a plain yarn, DB Cashmerino IIRC

this one

lovely effect

I was trying to step away from grey (it's my go to colour) and be a bit more adventurous but I know I'll get more wear out of a grey cardigan than a purple or lilac one (and kureyon in 267 shade is pretty different)

Thanks for the other suggestions and links - going to do one last look in the daylight at the kureyon laid out and then decide and order the wool! (Cascade 220)
