What does everyone use to store their fabric/wool/sundries etc?

For the last few years I've managed to cram it all into a medium sized suitcase but since DD1 came along my stash has outgrown this (making loads of 'bits' for her) and I've been using a large plastic storage box as well. But now I've started knitting again as well as sewing and well, it's all just got a bit out of hand!

I've got this lovely idea in my head of having a big welsh dresser for everything but space just won't allow it.

Im getting so fed up of everything being mixed up and having to dig through boxes every time I want to find a blooming needle! (Plus my lovely DH ia getting a bit weary of my stuff taking over!)

So any ideas for a decent sized and organisable storage thingy?

Try these ^ .....really useful boxes.
I work in art and have rather a lot of these in varying sizes.
They can either be stacked on top of each other quite safely, or the smaller ones have shelving units that they can slide into.

Ps.

As I have so many of these -'cos I have so much stuff - I colour code them with those little coloured dot things....so easy, and saves time and my sanity!

Thanks Touche they look good. I was hoping to avoid plastic but I'm starting to think I may mot have a choice!

Yes, I don't like plastic either, but as a practical choice they work for me.

They're lightweight.
Washable.
The lids lock on.
Stackable
Affordable.

I also have a set of ancient wooden drawers (contains 85 altogether) also full of 'stuff', and they are a nightmare to move - though they are gorgeous to look at.

Each works for me in its own way.

DH has no idea how big my stash is... The majority of fabric is in a big trunk which doubles as a coffee table, and yarn is in another, tall but narrow, trunk used as a side table.

As long as he's out of the room when I go for a rummage he won't realise how many unrealised plans and wips there are...

Miaow I think aldi bags would make it worse tbh, thanks though.

Dame I know what you mean! DH only really sees the yarn at the moment, the fabric is stuffed away. Storage that doubles as a side table/coffee table is a good idea though, we've been looking at getting some new living room furniture so it could work...

ikea clear plastic storage boxes - large, stackable, and actually look really nice - as you basically see the lovely fabric not the plastic iykwim. Therefore easy to find what you want too when you have a massive stash ...
