Any adult loom banders?

My older girls adore looms but struggled over making bracelets with the different techniques. I started helping them and ended up a bit addicted. I find it really theraputic and the kids love the fact that I can loom. Anyone else enjoy it as adults?

No but I have re-discovered my teenage passion for making macrame friendship bracelets which I think are far nicer and though they take longer to make, they're a bit more impressive though it's just knots!

Yes, I love it! Mainly talked the kids into getting them as I thought it looked quite therapeutic and it is. Smile

I don't loom but have considered it. It looks like great fun and I'm constantly amazed by some of the designs my charges and their friends do on their looms! I can do macrame bracelets, I love knot work. I don't have any thread to do it with at the moment, I don't like doing it with yarn (of which I have plenty) as it comes up weird ime.

Yep, had a go thanks to my niece and I'm now waiting for my official loom to arrive (hopefully tomorrow) Grin There's something immensely satisfying about it.

I am struggling to find decent bands though. I got some from The Works which have very uneven stretch (and loads have holes in so snap easily) so patterns requiring quite taut bands come out a bit lumpy and wonky.

I'm also quite tempted to have a go at macrame bracelets as well, I've got tons of embroidery silk kicking about doing nothing.

I spent an hour and a half with my 7 yr old dd watching and copying a loom band you tube video today. We made a very wonky baby Ariel. It's an hour and a half of my life I will never get back....

I've not stopped for about a week and as a result have a sprained hand! But my 5 year old DD and her friends all have animal book bag charms for my troubles Grin

Really considering investing in some official rainbow loom bands as they look so much better quality on the videos I copy. It really is therapeutic bit I think I need to stop, it's getting rather pointless as the stacks of things I have made are just in a Tupperware tub on the shelf Hmm

My official loom. Monster Tail and metal hooks arrived today, I'm currently looming away like a mad thing Grin

I've not done much yet but it does seem like the official bands are far better quality than the cheap ones I've been using so far. I'm doing another flexafish with the official bands (I did one on Friday with cheap bands but it came out rather uneven and lumpy) and it'll be interesting to see the difference.

I've made all sorts. Starbursts fishtails tire tracks weaves nauti ques. But the quality is lumpy sometimes so may get the real deal too.

Does anyone know of any charities that take loom bracelets and maybe send them abroad to children in third world countries

This is a blue yellow and red tiretrack loom. I used the autism colours. My daughter has aspergers. Would love to do something for charity!

My kids have been making simple bands on their fingers for ages and DS2 just got a cheap loom from a fair. It doesn't work very well but has got me wanting to male more stuff.

I just ordered a loom and box of bands. Can't wait to get started.

Celesteria can you explain about the autism bands? DS has a friend with autism and I would love to make him a special band!

Yup. I find the quadfish bracelets are very relaxing to make - like French knitting.

Me!

My boys got me into it and I love it - doing a starburst one for my holiday accessory this year. Touch of class Grin

Yes, I always loved French knitting Mimsy! I was thinking today that it's just the same thing, never knew what to do with French knitting though...

I haven't tried starburst though they look lovely!

The American site? Oh i looked at that today. My dd has set up a shop at school to sell her bracelets etc and wants me to make charms every evening for it. Thing is, i have to follow YouTube videos to make anything, pausing, playing, pausing, playing. Then she informs me she sold the charms for 5p each! 5p ?! It took me an hour and half to make! And she didn't even get the money, they Will give it to her tomorrow apparently! Yeah right.

Stairsinthenight there is a YouTube video for tire tracks. On my phone at the moment but will link when I can Smile I used yellow for my middle band colour and blue and red for the outside colours. I am currently making an autism coloured double braid bracelet which is really nice which you might prefer. I will put up a picture and link to the YouTube when done. I am thinking of getting little silver jigsaw piece charms to add to them Smile

If anyone would like any made do let me know. Happy to make them and pay postage. It will be pennies for me and i would be pleased to do so Grin

Grin @ Reality!

I'm half tempted to get one but I know I will just get frustrated at my lumpy lopsided creations.

Another one who is hooked! Currently making bracelets in all different colours to match my summer outfits.

The annoying thing is you can spend am hour putting all the bands on, and it can be the last minute when you are hooking and a band breaks and it comes out all wonky and that's a complete waste of time!
