I would quite like to make something for ds' teacher. But I'm not sure what yet!

He's had this teacher for 2 years - preschool and reception and she is wonderful! Grin

Please inspire me! Thanks

Well what sort of crafts do you do mainly? I sew small things so I made DDs teachers keyrings and lavender bags...

here's some inspiration

I try to make things that are useable as many people don't like or can't eat homemade sweets etc.

If someone made me that key ring my heart would melt!

DD is in y2 and sewing a bookmark. Simple rectangle of cross stitch cloth and she's sewing the teacher's name and an apple.

Not sure what we're doing this year but in previous years I've bought plain cotton shopping bags from Hobbycraft and got DC to decorate them (older DD sewing, younger DD fabric paint). I like to think they're useful but also personal so I try not to interfere too much in their designs!

Doh! Should have said I can sew and crochet. :)

Ds is in reception and while enthusiastic he takes a 'more is more' approach to making things. Confused

Just bumping this - I'm interested in any quick makes that people can suggest. Useful is good. I can knit (but it would have to be a quick knit) and sew (but am a novice with the sewing machine).
DD1 is Yr2 and has had a great teacher this year who is going on maternity leave in the summer. Teacher is "girly" iykwim. I was wondering about a pair of baby booties if I could find a nice and quick pattern.

I've had DS (age 5) make some shapes with air drying clay and used alphabet rubber stamps to stamp 'thank you' on them. On the back he has written his name and the year.

They are for his teacher and teaching assistants. We have hung them from ribbons so they can be hung up, possibly on Christmas trees if they don't want them up all year on the wall or wherever.

We are also going to decorate plant pots and put a small plant in them, so we've made some smaller star shapes from the same clay and put them onto kebab skewers to dry. Now they can go in the plant pots as a decoration, just to fancy things up a bit.

Closer to the end of term we are going to bake some biscuits to take in with the shapes and plants, for them to share in the staff room.

And I'm debating a wall hanging sewn out of felt but I will have to get a move on for that.

Lovely ideas! :)

Unfortunately my sewing machine has died so unless the repair man can find parts for its 40+year old insides then it's game over.

The heat is making crochet very un appealing! Hot fingers are not nimble fingers!

I made this (well my husband cut the hearts), I painted it and joined it together and my DD wrote on it as a thank you for her teacher.

I did have a long and stupidly overambitious list but life overtook me in a big way, so the night before the end of term I made 2 "storage tubs" and one shoulder bag for DD's 2 class teachers and 1 TA, and 3 drawstring bags in appropriate fabrics for DS's teachers, and stuffed a bottle of Prosecco into each. And I even managed to get about 3 hours sleep.
