Knitted dishcloths

I know 100% cotton is recommended but all I have is Sirdar Calico which is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic, will it work/ be absorbent enough?

I don't think so, I think the acrylic content is going to get you. Why not knit a swatch and then get it wet and see how it absorbs?

No, I don't think so either. The joy of a knitted dishcloth, in dishcloth cotton, is that it can be bleached and boiled and so last clean and hygienic for a long, long time. You can't do that with acrylic.
