Have a look at \link{http://www.cricut.com/\this} and this\link{http://www.croppinparadise.com/provo-craft-cricut-personal-electronic-cutter-preorder-p-11861.html\OK}

No computer required, they cut alphabets and all sorts of shapes.
Thats the good news
The bad news is
They will retail around £290.00 and there're not in this country until Oct/Nov this year because of the electricity currency
I've emailed Provo and it's true they're not compatible with our electricity current.
I've wrote my christmas list and this is at the top I've ordered mine ready, just incase santa forgets to bring it.Wink

so £290 for the machine. And then the cartridges will be well expensive for you to be able to cut different shapes.
Looks good but very very expensive.

Carolinett · 22/03/2006 21:26

You get a load of freebies with it, alphabets & loads of shapes. The info is coming by post when I get it I'll let you know what the freebies are

Yes I know it is very expensive.

Look at the USA price it realy P$ssis you off

I'm going to try and find out if there's a converter on the back of the machine and try and find out if you can use the USA one with a converter plug in this country, like we do when we go abroad.
Thats my mission for this year.

Oh its fab Carolinette....just added one to my wish list :)

You'd be able to get a converter. I used one with an American GameCube that I bought for the DSS in the US. I did the same with an American camera I bought - used a converter with the charger.

Check to see if buying it in the US & shipping by Fed-Ex will be cheaper than £290 - I've bought a lot of stuff this way. Of course, nothing to do with wanting it NOW. Grin

Oh, it's not just a power socket converter btw. It changes the current from the US 110 to UK 220 so it's more complex than just the socket thingy and more expensive.

Brilliant arfissimo
Thanks for the info
Nothing may come of this but I think it's worth pursueing.
I hate getting ripped off.

I emailed a contact in the USA this morning for some info, but as you know there're about 8/9 hours behind

it was a scrapbook mag not sure which one, i get a subscription, will look when i get home, not 100% its this exact machine but something else that does the same thing, i thought it was a fab idea thats why i tried to win one! the one i saw worked with your computer and was more like a printer that cut and therefore didn't need extra bits, just a new blade now and then, when i get home tonight i wil have a look

If I must but I don't want to be labelled a geek or a man or anything ok?

We range from 220 to 240 volts, while the US ranges between 100 and 127 volts.

Here's what you need:

\link{http://www.ryness.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?categoryID=766&productID=2605\ electricity thingy}

(Assuming it's a low watt device. This will handle 45 watts. There is another for 100 watts. Check with the manufacturer which is better)
