Another scrapbooking question

Another question,

I have finally got the photo's of dad and i've decided which I want to use, there are also some photo's of where he grew up etc.

Do i put them in order ie, from when he was a boy upwards or can i put them in any order?

It's totally up to you. Have a look at UKcrappers and see if oyu get any ideas there.

Scrapbooking is very personal and depends only on what you like

That is really up to you! I don't have hardly any experience but I would group the pics into themes, colours or chronological order. I would have a play around with a group of photos at a time depending on how many you have.

As long as you include any info,dates etc into your journalling it can be in any order you want it to be, there are no set fast rules...

Another question if you don't mind.

I have a few things that I want to add that are personal to him, such as

a picture of his favourite beer, wrapper from his fave mints, the house he brought me up in etc, pictures of where he used to take me for picnics every sunday etc. Are they ok in an album

If you're not sure about the acid free status, you can pop them in acid free envelopes, on tags, or in special 'bags'. It's really about being creative and keepinga nything you'e not sure of away from the precious bit-s ie the photos.

I've not that alot of things say acid and linin(sp) free and I've never been sure what this means.

just make sure that anything which might not be acid free isn't directly touching a photo. If it does it can damage the colour in the photo. You can mount them on the LO, just not 'on' the photograph.
Generally scrapbooking supplies are marked acid free so you know they're safe to use with photos.

Great thank you so much, a couple of the photo's i have a over 50 years old, one of them probably over 60 years old, I;m not sure whether to use them but dh says better i use them than keep them in a box in the attic.

Are you using the original photos or scanning in and re-printing?

I think the original idea of scrapbooking is to preserve and to help stop discolouring products need to be free from acid and lignin (sp?)So in theory, any embellishment need to be either acid free or kept away from the pics themselves. Using little specialised envelopes etc is one way round this.

I was going to use the original ones, where would i get the specialized envelopes from?
