Help! I have to make a huge papier mache egg, which will then be made into a huge chocolate egg! Does anyone know what and where I can get that stuff that I have heard of, like plaster of paris? The thought of doing an egg with newspaper stuff is scary! Thanks!

Have you ever done any paper mache before ? my daughter's kids club did it earlier this year and all the kids loved it. I would try a craft place like Hobby Craft or Range and the balloons for doing it over would obviously be easy to find. I can find out from the Kids Club in an hour or so if you like ?

I did think about buying a space hopper thingy and painting it brown, but how would I get rid of its ear things without puncturing it?! Any ideas would be great..I just need to make a chocolate looking egg, to replace Humpty Dumpty when he goes on holiday!

What does bump mean jollymum ? I text my mate and she said they used PVA glue from ELC and water as it is safer for the kids than plaster of paris when they did the session with papier mache

We use wallpaper paste when we make the carnival models, and they are massive. PVA glue diluted is also wonderful.

The space hopers often have non-inflatable ears. I would have a look: if it's for friday there may be drying issues.

We use chicken wire, but I'd go for the biggest balloon (you can get those massive ones can't you?) myself.
