I am sorry you can't make it JM. I would have loved to have a page from you in my book. It's special to me , because it's not just my 1st CJ, it sort of represents my 40th birthday and a way forward IYSWIM!

I am enjoying making it so much, thank you for this opportunity Yorkie!

Oh I just managed to take a peep as mumsnetter has now been added as a member....looks like my memberships not there anymore, as I cant find it in the membership file???

AQ ~ going for the minimalistic look are we??? Only joking...hope you find what you want for your CJ whilst on your shopping trip Your first LO is fabby...I love B&W.

YG ~ Love the shape and colour of your CJ. The photos of your DD's in the tag album are beautiful.

Katz ~ Your journal is lovely and bright...I really like the journalling in the circles. You have some great LO's and your DD looks so cute.

Pecka ~ Your journal is lovely....Ive got a thing about pink atm...like the fibres too

Hausfrau ~ Love the rustic colours you have used. The Nannas Sunflower LO is scrummy.

UCM ~ I hope your CJ comes back with loads of great receipes...really like the papers you have used to cover the journal.

Dingle ~ Its fabby....Ive got a really big thing going on for pink and chocolate brown ATM...love it loads. The charms are really cute too. Make sure they are attached well because the journals can take quite a bashing in the post.

Just a couple of tips to pass on...

When you post its a good idea to

  1. send recorded delivery....journals do get lost!
  2. wrap the journal in a plactic bag or wrap well in bubble wrap. Then cut two pieces of thick card stock (an old card board box cut up is fine)....use the card to support the CJ and stop it from being bent in the post.

Ive heard some horror stories of packets being damaged and CJ's getting wet and badly damaged by Royal Mail.

    Photos....

The best way to take photos of your Cj entries is..

Blue tack them to a white background outside on a bright day....not in direct sunshine but soemwhere that has good lighting. If you blue tack them to the wall at your shoulder hight and set you camera on best photo option you will get some really fantastic shots.
If your image is a little dark or you want to crop, straighten or highlight colour then you can use the free down load package called Picasa2. Its a great programme for making minor alterations which will improve the quality of your shots.

Its such a shame when you have worked hard to make an entry and the photograph doesnt show the detail because of bad lighting.

    HTH.
    Have fun.

thnaks for the handy hints JM

and I'm glad you like my cover . i have added to it now, but haven't got round to taking a photo and it is raining today so i can't follow your idea to take piccie outside.

all ineed to do is my rules and something else, but not quite sure what!
if my rules go on one page then i will have an odd number of pages!
do i need rules?
could i do an extra LO facing my rules??

any one got the answers?

Thank you for the tips JM. The papers were an old school dress bought in charity shop for 30p. wrapped round a bit of foam board. I will do it differently next time. I will use foam plus some card to get a different doberry.

Oh and I finally used a staple gun, we have 5, DH is builder/tiler and he uses all of the time.

I loved doing it. I showed by bits to someone this evening actually and they said 'but whats the point?' This lady is a real crafter, does dough modelling, knitting, quilting etc and I couldn't believe that she thought that CJs were useless!! I really must bow to her knowledge though.

AQ ~ the intro page of your journal could be done on your first page...the one opposite your first sign in page, which should be on the inside of your front or back cover IYKWIM??
You have two pages that are single LO pages...the very first page and the very last page...these are usually used for intro pages and a place to add your address tag should the journal go missing in the post.

Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!! Great ideas and absolutely wonderful colours Hausfrau!!!!

I MUST say though, and I don't want to upset you, but it has been very slightly bent up on one corner! PLease, please wrap your CJs up well. I will ensure, when I send it out it is completely wrapped in bubble wrap and card efore going into the envelope. So that the risk damage is reduced. Please -it's not bad, but I just wanted to mention it as I can only imagine the amount of time and effort that is going to go into completing these!

It is truely lovely and the warm rustic reds, ambers and coppery colours are truely my all time favourites......I will get my brain into gear and start working on some ideas!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
