OK - a quick list please of topics for Mens Birthday cards. All I can think of is :

DIY - hammers etc
Footie or Sport
Car
Garden Shed
Beer / Wine
Tie

Is there anything else that is more original ?The only ones I've done are general embossed patterns in 'manly' colors ! I need to make one for the weekend - Why are they so difficult !?

I am having same problem. I have made some brown fimo clay handles for hammers, chisels and some blue ones for screwdrivers but haven't got a clue what to do wiv em'.

Will think of sommthing.....erm....nope still can't. I bought some beer backing paper (don't laugh) from PMPete which is, well pints of beer on backing paper, but not every man I know drinks beer.....

Ok Pass.

But pass on any ideas.

ok, this is a bit cynical, but I'm not sure I actually know any men who could really appreciate the type of effort that goes into a card like that. They mainly like jokes on their cards, don't they?

I hate mens cards but what about making a C5 card portrait position, using two different pieces of contrasting backing papers and using sizzix alphabet letters put something like Happy Birhday on the top bit and his name on the bottom bit, join up the two matching papers with another contrasting coloured strip and thread a small buckle die cut or soemthing.
With the paper the card could be bright or bland
Anyway just an idea

You could make the card following Carolinett idea but use your printer.
Type your words in word and then flip them, print on to coloured card...cut them out with a craft knife.

JM: how did 'over the hill' get on the ribbon in that card? Was it preprinted or did you do it?

I bought it....want some???
You can print on ribbon but not in white.

To print on ribbon

Print on to paper the text you want. Cut ribbon and position over the top of the printed text. Stick in place using low tack tape or a blob of pritt stick. Make sure the ribbon is flat and pop the paper back into your printer....print.
Works well on smooth ribbons....print in bold for best effect.

wow! I am trying to imagine the paper going through with the ribbon attached. I will have to try that trick. Thanks
