Worried about going to amnio alone.

Dh overseas so can't come with me.

Have no friends/family to come and really dh is the only one I would want there anyway.

Just a bit worried about what will happen and how sore it will be, I am a bit of a woose and have terrible thoughts about jumping in pain and the needle hitting the baby!

Have been told it's a 30 min appointment but only a couple of mins is actually taking the sample.

Can anyone give me some reassurance?

I went to my cvs alone and by tube. What I didn't realise was that you should rest for 24 hours afterwards so if you do go alone get a taxi. staff were nice and considerate and held my hand prob better at that sort of thing than dh anyway. good luck

Hi, I went to my amnio with my husband but wanted to reassure you about the process...I found it very easy and almost painless. I've seen people compare it to having a blood sample taken, which is what it felt like to me...just a scratch.

The consultant who took the sample was lovely and there was also a midwife there who was very reassuring, it was nice to have my husband there but it would not have been awful if he wasn't, I felt I was taken care of.

As the other ladies have mentioned, take care of yourself and take it easy for the rest of the day. I'm sorry you find yourself in this position and wish you best of luck for the results.

Piz

I had a cvs last year which was not painful but a really odd sensation.

Dh's friend is giving me a lift there and back.
