Reversed Ductus Venosus and absent nasal bone; CVS negative for DS!!

Hi, Im wondering if anyone knows what these mean in light of a negative CVS for the 3 major chromosome abnormalities?

I was given odds of 1:2 for DS with my scan and bloods, had CVS and got quick results back as negative, will have full screen results back within 2 weeks. Obviously I was over the moon to get the all clear for DS but I cant help thinking that something must be wrong to give those odds?

I just cant seem to find anywhere what else could give these 'markers' on a 12 week scan?

Any advice / opinions would be much appreciated, im all googled out and will be seeing my consultant when we get full CVS results in, but going a bit crazy in the meantime!!

Thanks in advance

Carly 12+6

I don't really know the answer to your questions Carly, but just wanted to say what fabulous news that your CVS has come back clear! As far as I know, absent nasal bone is mainly a marker for Down's syndrome (and Edwards and Patau), and about 3% of normal fetuses have an absent nasal bone at 12 weeks. Perhaps you are in the lucky 3% that the nasal bone is just a little late to ossify.

I was also given a risk of 1:2 because of absent nasal bone and one other marker (though we got a positive result on CVS).

I hope the next 2 weeks pass quickly for you and you get the all clear on the full result.

I would definitely recommend calling ARC - a charity, they are experts on all sorts of ante-natal testing and I'm sure will be able to give you more information while you're waiting for results.

Hi Yaya, thanks so much, what an emotional week!

Congratulations on your baby - I have read your story on here I think ; it came up when I was googling for info after my 1:2 odds! It seems you have been through a lot x

Tiokiko- I have been on their website and thought about calling but just not sure if they will know anymore than I have already been told - does that make sense? I have heard great things about them tho so I might give it try Thanks

Yes, I know what you mean. I still reckon it's worth a call if your mind is going into overdrive - they might be able to answer some questions in advance of your full results and/or consultant meeting.

I had questions about my NT scan + bloods and they explained all the components to me much more clearly and comprehensively than I found anywhere else.

Hope that you can get some reassurance there or elsewhere and you can hopefully relax a bit and get to celebrate the great news on the CVS!
