Hi, today I've been prescribed sertraline 50mg by the GP after 6 weeks of horrible pnd, tried to muddle through but all came to a head a week ago and after 3 visits to GP I finally relented to taking AD. I have a 12 week old DS and a 4 year old DD. I had bad pnd first time round but didn't seek out any help or support and I think I had never fully recovered from it. Right now I feel relieved that this could be the first step in getting better but I am so anxious about taking the AD, side effects etc. can anyone offer some positive experiences/support to get me through the first few days? I'm also having some accupuncture and getting some councilling in the next week. X

Sorry you've been suffering from PND, it's horrible. Haven't taken Sertraline but have had ADs after having my son. I only wish I had taken them sooner! Really helped me after struggling for months. They took a couple of weeks to kick in but I really calmed down after that. I hope that your PND lifts quickly and well done for seeking help.

Really sorry to hear your situation. I was on AD's for non pregnancy related issues and they worked brilliantly for me. That said, I had to try a few and a few different does so don't be disheartened if it takes a while to get it right. Also don't worry that you may be on them forever sometimes they are just the thing to kick start you into being able to try other types of therapies to manage it all. Good luck.
