Hello , I've previously posted in méntal health with very encouraging support however my health anxiety is pnd related so thought I would pop along over here. Basically I have a 9 month old and 2 older children . I'm breastfeeding . I've had some health anxiety since baby was born - thoughts of brain tumour, bone cancer, lymphoma etc etc. now i found a lump in my left breast a few weeks ago which wasn't disappearing between feeds etc so of course I thought the worse. Went to GP last week she said she couldn't feel it and to come back in a month. Well my anxiety hit the roof to the point I can't move off my sofa , and I nearly had a panic attack collecting my children from school , it's been a really horrendous time . I went back to GP today who has refered me to the breast clinic of course this has made my anxiety bad again. She has also prescribed 10mg citalopram every other day , anyone ever experienced any thing horrid with this drug before ?

Hi,

i am sorry you have been suffering.

I have been on citalopram for a number of years at varying levels due to anxiety and panic attacks, I have never had any symptoms or sideeffects. I some times get constipated (sorry tmi!) and ths may be down to the pills but not sure!!

it is supposed to be the best for anxiety and low side effects.

i have also found 'talking therapies' is a great service and also cbt.

i hope this helps.

pm me if you want ongoing support xx

Hi, I am 17 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy. My daughter is 6 years old and I suffered with anxiety attacks during pregnancy with her which I kept to myself. As a result I ended up in counselling when she was 18 months old. I have been suffering from anxiety for 5 weeks now and GP has prescribed betablockers which are not helping and I'm starting to feel a bit desperate as I am not enjoying this pregnancy at all. Was the Citalipram prescribed by your GP or a mental health professional and does it help?
