She called me today to tell me that she has admitted herself into a clinic. Feel awful that I didn't pick up on this sooner.

Feel even worse that, as we are in opposite ends of the country I can't be on hand to offer any practical support.

Want to send her something to remind her that I am thinking of her. Are flowers inappropriate? Does anyone have any better suggestions??

Thanks in advance

Flowers would be lovely, and a nice letter so show that you are thinking of her and will be there for her whenever she needs you. Don't worry that you did not pick up on it sooner, you are there for her now. Friends that live closer to her can give her practical support, but if she knows she can text you and phone you, you can give her support that way by being a good friend.

Flowers - anything - you sound like a very kind friend. Most important thing you can do is listen. Having someone to talk to is a great support.
