I am breastfeeding a 9 week old and have a long history of depression.
I was prescribed sertraline for bf but stopped taking it a month ago due to side effects (anxiety, nightmares and tremor). I can't take fluoxetine either as it makes me sick. I was on escitalopram before getting pregnant but there few studies on its use whilst bf.
So now my choices seem to be:
1/ continue bf and hope my depressive symptoms don't get worse (I'm surviving - not suicidal yet )
2/ go back on sertraline and endure the side effects
3/ give up bf and go back on escitalopram
I don't want to give up bf as we've only just got the hang of it!
Has anyone else been in this situation? If so what did you do?
