Setraline and Baby's Side Effects via Breastfeeding

Hi

I am thinking that I need to give up the breastfeeding as I need to take drugs for PND. The doctor has given me Setraline as its not meant to be too bad for Breastfeeding.

My side effects aside - feeling zoned out, fainting, not wanting to eat, thirsty, generally disconnected.

However, I have noticed that my baby has been a bit more sleepy and seems to have lost his appitite too.

Is this just me being paranoid or is this something others have experienced.

I will also post this question in the Children?s health thread.

Hi - just wanted to reassure you there is nothing to worry about when taking sertraline while breastfeeding. I have used it since dd was 7months (stopped bf at 13months) and no problems.

how long have you been taking it and how old is your baby? It took a week or so for my side effects to settle. And babies just sometimes go through changes in their sleep/appetite for all sorts of reasons (growth spurt, sleep regression etc) so I don't think you need to worry. Hth
