I was fuming watching this last night when the mum of the child who clearly had ADHD said that she was too blame, as she had been told the child had developed a detachment disorder because of her PND.
What doctor in their right mind would tell a woman who had suffered PND that her daughters mental problems were her fault!
It makes me so angry its not as if we don't carry around enough guilt about our kids but this woman had done nothing about her childs condition because of this crud diagnosis and her marriage had split up.

I was told this by a Paed, too, when my DS was first diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome with ADHD traits (and Paed found out I had had PND). I was given a whole speech, in fact, about how baby monkeys who are rejected/ignored by their depressed mothers develop ADHD-like behaviours as a way of seeking attention.

I thought it sounded like absolute bollocks, to be honest.

Unfortunately, there are many people who will take a doctor's words as gospel and it is very sad (and makes me angry, too) that some health professionals dont think before they speak.

Omg it makes me so mad! Doctors know bugger all about parenting. I suffered from PND but can put my hand on my heart and say that my son was not affected by this in the slightest. Yes I was depressed but he was my world and we were sooooo close and still are.
PND affects every woman differently but it pisses me off when everyone thinks that every woman with it has problems bonding with baby and so that must affect baby.
