Hi emma. I am on Citalopram for anxiety/depression. (not PND)

I started on 20mg in July and am now on 40mg.

The first few weeks were not easy, even feeling worse in terms of anxiety. Yawned a lot, completely lost my appetite and sleep pattern messed up. I did nearly give up, but thankfully I stuck with it.

It has changed my life. I feel so much better.

Good luck.

im also on citalopram for depression..ive been on it for 3 weeks (20mg) amd docs going to review me at 4.
i dont feel like its made any difference with my moods and i still cant sleep.
Its made me feel nauseous most of the time.
so im wondering whether i should carry on at a higher dosage or ask for something different... i know it takes a while to work so perhaps i need to bare with it too :0

Yes, bear with it. Citalopram takes a good 3 weeks before it kicks in so it would only just begin to be working for you. See how you go over the next week - things might improve. I don't experience any side effects at all, though I did feel a bit sick when I started taking it (5 years ago). Side effects usually wear off after a few weeks, so you are probably through the worse of it - good luck!

I was on it for about a year, it worked really well for me, totally settled my anxiety, no side affects at all apart from a drop in my sex drive (which didn't really matter anyway as we had a tiny baby.) It massively improved my ability to sleep and, more importantly, get back to sleep. I would take it again if necessary. Hope that it works for you and that you feel better soon.

Good luck Emma. It does get worse before it gets better in my experience.

i realise i wrote this post a couple of weeks ago now but i thought id give an update as i had some nice replies from you all...

My doctor has given me sum fluoxetine 20mg which im about to try... not sure how strong they will be though :S

Ive also arranged therapy with the therapy for you service which im starting tomorrow.. my health visitor came this morning and shes confident itll help me as i seem to have a lot to talk about which is good!

And as for they fiancee.. well hes just very irritated he cant understand me, says i need the counselling and not to take every little argument to heart which is easier said than done when the issue is my feelings!

anyhoo i am extremely looking forward to christmas and i cannot wait to see the kiddies open their presents especially my youngest as its his first christmas :D
