AIBU?

I just let this go, right? Can't be fixed?

I have
DS10yo: mature, over-sensitive, struggles to make friends
DS6yo: immature, inarticulate, impulsive.

Conversation with DS10yo yesterday:

Me: What about L., isn't he still your friend?
DS: No, he says I'm racist.
Me: Racist?! What did you say?!
DS: It wasn't me, it was DS6yo. He called L. a Big Brownhead.
Me: But that was DS6, not you!
DS: Yeah, but he says that if my brother is a racist then I must be, too.

Arrrggggh. I had a chat with DS6 this morning about what he said (reportedly, I don't know how or what he really said). I barely recognise L. much less know his family.

It's really bothering me that I can't fix how DS10 has been labelled and lost a potential friend over one silly impulsive remark from a daft sibling.

At that age they fall in and out of friends on a daily basis. I really don't think there's anything you can do about it other than talk to your 6 yr old about name calling.

One solution might be for your elder son to get your younger one to apologise to L.
