To hate living on the coast in the summer!

Meh!

While everywhere from 3 miles from here onwards is enjoying blazing sunshine and heat of 24 degrees upwards we are stuck in freezing fog! It's like this every bloody summer. Normally I get fucked off, throw the kids in the car and spend the day a few miles away in the park and it's fine. But today I am expecting a delivery and am stuck. It's only 10 degrees, we all have our winter clothes on and the fire is going.

It's hideous...the fog just lingers here right on the very very tip of the coast like a blanket of doom and can easily stay for weeks at a time without shifting! It only happens in the summer when the land heats up and the sea doesn't.

Fuck you fog!

Oh no! Whereabouts are you? Not wanting to rub it in but it is scorchio on the coast where we live...but on the downside we didn't get snow. Sob. And I'm feeling very pregnant in this heat. And there are holiday-makers everywhere.

As per my previous offer, bigfish, am more than happy to swap. It is 26 degrees here and we are only 10 miles or so from the coast ourselves so would be great for you. You can stay until late next week. I'm, being induced next Wednesday so feel free to make yourselves at home......

In all seriousness though, it is pretty shite. Whereabouts are you ? I have lived near the coast most of my life and never experienced much summer fog.

I'm on the NE coast of Scotland. On a nice day, it's the most fantastic place on earth but we probably only get a couple of days like that a month in the summer! It's a very local thing though so much so it isn't even ever reported on the local weather forecasts.

The funny thing is Donald Trump is creating "the worlds greatest golf course" here. I swear he can't have visited in the fog, I've no idea what he's thinking!!

The only upside is we can't physically get flooded unless there's a tsunami, got to be positive about something! I really wish this delivery would appear, if I don't see sunshine soon I may die from being too pale..

I used to live in north Devon. It was so beautiful . Never got foggy, really. What usedto get on my nerves were the arewipes clogging up the roads with surfboards on the car roof. And walking at a snail's pace down the High Street when I was trying to do some shopping in my lunch hour.

Much preferred the coast in the winter, when the beaches were empty. But then the atlantic storms would come in and make the rain slap you horizontally in the face, so wasn't without its bad side.

Aah, sea fret. I hate it when it happens when I visit my family in Norfolk.

Woud you like to come and swap with my 26deg sweaty, stinky, turgid, traffic-bound inner city ?

No ?

Thought not

I'm on the coast and in the city (Portsmouth). It's glorious here today. I've spent the day supping cocktails and turning pink (stupid, I know).
