Just having a rant fellow MNers so look away if you're having a nice day

I'm 21 weeks pregnant, bloomin hot and bloaty in this weather and have a delightful cold and hayfever to boot, plus have morning sickness which should be renamed 9 month sickness. DS1 is at nursery on Tuesday so thought I'd have the whole day to clean house/catch up on jobs/generally wallow in self pity as to my poorliness

But nooooo, today I have been telephoned twice by utility companies trying to get their hands on my dwindling cash, and have been approached on the doorstep to change my religion. Why don't people get the hint that I want to be left alone arrrrg! We're ex-directory and have a sign on the door declining cold callers. Sorry if this has been done before but needed to rant!

Oh poor you and no YANBU.

Take the phone off the hook, run yourself a bath, get a cold drink/ ice cream etc and put your feet up for a while.

YANBU. I have received three phone calls this morning. The first, a gentleman calling from India to inform me that he works for Microsoft and my computer is at risk of virus and my whole company's system will crash (I am at home, we don't use Microsoft and wasn't online at the time).

The second call - 20 minutes later - was a lady calling from India to inform me that my Company's computer was at risk ... etc, etc

The third was someone calling from Sky TV, who wished to speak to 'the person in your house that makes all the decisions'. When I told him that would be me, he informed me that he couldn't speak to me because my name wasn't on the account

Hope you feel better soon.

go go go!!!! rant away.

Have you registered with the outfit that means your name/number gets taken off all cold calling lists? Can't recall what it's called now but it works.

I have been getting all these 'witheld number' missed calls. They don't leave me a message - annoys me. When they get through its a charity (sorry but I feel bad enough I had to cut my donations but I'm doing what I can and I don't appreciate the call though I understand why you feel obliged to make it), and my housing assn where I am a shared owner. They asked me if I was a MR Downdog (there isn't one) and if I was a tennant as they are doing a survey of tennants - technically I am a leaseholder so I said NO, and then goodbye! Wasn't rude to either of them, but I don't have to take these calls, and don't want these calls, so I was curt & short & said goodbye. Nothing wrong with that in my book. I was mildly huffy about those calls so you are perfectly entitled to a MAJOR rant in your circumstances

If you're fed up with people ringing you, register with the TPS www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

Not sure what to suggest about the door knockers...

Thanks for the tip on TPS! Will give that a try!

Decided I'm going to make a poster for the front door, like one of those 'Beware of the hormonal pregant lady' things! Cold callers you have been warned!!!!

Feel much better now thanks all, plus the DH has promised to stop at the shop for emergency galaxy supplies on his way home!
