Erm OP you are being very judgey, how do you know that the child was not partially deaf and can only communicate when spoken to very LOUDLY or maybe the child had a vocal disorder which means she can only speak at ear-splitting volume. Judgey, judgey etc etc.

Dd2 is loud. She was born loud. We play 'fingers on lips, now fingers on heads quick, now knees, fingers on lips' etc which keeps her quiet for all of 30 seconds before she gets bored and starts loudly singing again. If we are ever in a Supermarket with us you are welcome to try and get her to tone down the volume. God knows I have tried and failed. Perhaps you know of some magic incantation that would work? Because short of masking tape across her mouth nothing else would work.

Yeh. Ban noisy toddlers, I say. And all of those old people wittering on and on. And all those mums blocking the aisles with their buggies. And anyone daring to smile.
Just BAN THEM ALL.

Dd2 is currently singing loudly the loo. She was counting loudly in the doctors not long ago. On the way to school in a moment she will be shouting hello loudly to anyone who happens to cross her field of vision. In supermarkets she loudly recites the names of the products she can see. She squeals with utter delight if anyone smiles at her or she sees any things with Scooby/Peppa/Dora/bright colours.

I told you she was born loud. And it's sporadically it's constant. that is why the invented the iPod no?
