To cry at the new John Lewis ad?

Probably I am. But I LOVE that song and found the ad very moving (and I love JL too so was very pleased it wasn't for tampax or something else). Sad but true!

No - I thought it was just me. The music caught my attention, wasn't sure what I was watching but it really made me cry. Glad I'm not alone.

Sorry but yes, yabu. And there are already several threads on it. And the music is crap! And I am clearly cold-hearted...

Oh and why does she look so vacant in school and when blowing out the candles? And so smug when kissing boyfriend and new hubby?

yanbu. I was blubbing too.

I only just saw it for the first time and guessed what it was from seeing the recent MN threads on it.

Hope it runs for a while, I do love the chance for a little weep in the ad breaks!

I posted this the other day and everyone ignored me.

B'stards!

I'm with Janeite - first time I saw it I thought it was going to be an ad for someone like Norwich Union. I find it quite sickening tbh!

Great add, but a bit wasted on a Department Store, would have worked well for loads of other things, like cancer research.

It made me feel really sad . It made life seem so short, I could have wept for that reason.

Perhaps I need to see my GP .

Anyone else feel like that?

Yes Monty, I thought that too & it's how I'm feeling about my life at the moment. Time goes so quickly and seems to speed up with every day that passes. I like the ad but the wigs are a bit rubbish

Actually, just had a thought; did they steal the idea from UP (Pixar film)? The bit where the couple grow old together.. I watched that in the cinema at about 20 weeks pg and was absolutely in bits, proper tears streaming down my face

Report
HeadlessLadyH · 28/04/2010 09:22

Me too. Am 9 weeks pg though so verrrrrry emotional right now.Had to hold the tears in as was with the (rather unemotional) ILs at the time.

I agree with dittany, actually. Used to love this song when Billy Joel sang it when I was a child, but since hearing it on the advert, I was thinking 'These lyrics do not sound exactly pro-women'.

Also agree with Monty at the feelings of sadness and vunerability.
