penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

In thinking that its way too early to put your Christmas tree Up??

Or has anyone got thiers up already? shock

Coming back from school today i happened to notice someone near me has thier tree up, i could see it through the window.

It seems to be getting earlier and earlier each year at this house.

If any of you have started with christmas decorations by now, I would be interested to know what reason you have for doing so [nosy emoticon]

As i myself would be absolutely sick of the thing by christmas day never mind into new year. Beginning of December is early enough for me if i can be bothered, But do aim to have it up by the 25th grin

I just got home form a day out shopping (having left dh and ds at home for the day) to find flashing lights up in our living room window. I told dh, it's embarrassing, get them down but my ds got upset so looks like i have to put up with it. The problem here is that my dh starts getting excited about xmas after our aug summer hol has finished and is unable to contain himself round about now, peaks too early, basically.
why do you care womma - do you own a shop

Of course it is otterstar, don't be a berk
I'm one of those December birthday people, so our tree never goes up till after my (18th Dec) birthday, as that was what my mum did when I was little. And DH doesn't mind, as we both would hate it getting in the way for much more than that. As DD1's school breaks up on my birthday this year, I'm guessing we'll be decorating Sunday 20th. We do sometimes buy it earlier (real tree) but leave it in the garage till then.

When I was small, the man next door worked for the Forestry Commission, and he used to get our tree for us. He'd get home from work early, and lob it over the garden wall. For years my dad had us believing that Santa's elves popped round early with our tree for us......
whoooooops wrong thread blush

always wondered how people manage that!
infact just looked ours up at a level

comp 851 points
private 928 points
state grammar 1106point

discrepancy between comp and private at gcse was 76% A-C compared to 97% private

once less academic crowd has left - picture very different

The stuff's been in the shops for some time now and sort of getting used to it, but fortunately haven't yet seen any of those weird upside down trees that John Lewis had last year (or was it the year before?) - wth was all that about?

It's silly to boycott a shop because they have a christmas tree up in November

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
