lil sis has just come out of a 10yr relationship. they were engaged and had bought a house. they are (finally) sorting out the house between them and while she is still v upset, she is pulling herself together and starting to enjoy being single for the 1st time since she was 16.

we went out about 3w ago and got talking to this man who seemed v nice. he asked for her number and i bullied persuaded her to give it to him. they have been texting and were supposed to meet for a drink last sun. he was ill, so it was cancelled.

anyway they have been rearranging and she asked him to come round to her house one night to watch a dvd and have a take away. i think that since she has only met him once, their first date should be in a public place. he seemed v nice and i know that not every man is a stalker, murderer or rapist, but she is still v vulnerable and not eating/sleeping. i am worried about her. so AIBU?

You sound like me! You're not being unreasonable, she is your little sister and it's normal to want to look out for her when she's vulnerable. Perhaps just suggest to her she might want to try drinks / cinema with prospective dates first seeing as she's just come out of a long term thing? She will be wanting the comfort of something 'homey' if she's just lost that I suppose. Just keep being there and supporting her. You sound like a good big sister!

Not BU to worry about her but she is a big girl and allowed to make her own decisions, she may feel more comfortable around him in her own surroundings and she obvioulsy feels comfortable enough with him to invite him to her house

You just have to trust her judgement, and be there for her when she needs you

thanks, its just she took the break up v hard and i want her to be happy, but i feel that she would be safer on neutral territory. its her safety that i am worried about.

should i call her while he's there to check on her?

I would be tempted to call her during the evening on the premise of a cheeky "how's it all going" type of call. But then I am a worrier
