I had a call from the school nurse today. DD is 13 and well known for being a bit accident prone in the past.

She started the conversation with, 'Mrs Love, it's the school nurse, DD has broken her (far too big a pause) bra!!' 'Is it OK with you if I give her a gate pass, so she can go home to change it and come back?'

Er No! She said she had given her a safety pin, but it was still uncomfortable! It was nearly lunchtime fgs and she only has one lesson after lunch!

Unless your DD has such enormous breasts that she was unable to concentrate at school then surely she could manage a couple of hours with a safety pin?

Well quite! The nurse seemed a little shocked that I wouldn't let her go home! I heard her say to her, 'mum wants to talk to you and she's not happy!'

IT was uncomfortable aparently. It kept slipping of her shoulder! Get over it and get back into class, I said! A little harsh, do you think? Personally, I think not!

hell no- go strict mum!
Maybe dd will pay attention to the condition of her undies before putting them on?

If my bra strap slipped off I wouldn't expect anyone to let me go home from work early - no, I soldiered on ("Land of Hope and Glory" starts up in background) and didn't complain...

YANBU!

LOL - I can't believe she even let the nurse call you, surely she knows you by now!! Can't believe they would let her come home for that. In my day...

if I went home from work everytime my bra strap slipped down my shoulder I;d never be at work.

Think you were quite right to say no

School nurse is nuts. My dd is very accident prone plus plays a lot of sport - this last year she has broken her shoulder, broken her arm, twisted her ankle and banged her head badly - all at school (two accidents whilst playing bloody full-contact rugby, one playing netball, one by tripping down the stairs). I think if I had a school nurse calling me saying "dd has broken her ......cue X-Factor style dramatised pause......BRA" I think I would have been very pissed off!!!
