ANY DENTISTS on the board? AIBU?

So, since i've been at my new dentist (British trained) I seem to be having more tooth trouble than usual. Conincidence perhaps-unlucky? She's done 5 fillings to date over the past 3 years. There has been trouble with 3 of those fillings which has meant me going back as the fillings have fallen out or the filled tooth has had bits shatter off it shortly afterwards.

So far i've lost 2 teeth which have had her fillings in them (ive only been at this dentist 3 years. The teeth she then had to pull out both were infected afterwards (ok so maybe not her fault re:the infections granted).

The latest missing tooth had a dry socket and still isnt healed a month later (although not infected). Now one of the remaining bottom teeth is sore-despite the fact that she put a root filling in a year ago-so supposedly there should be no nerves??).

Last week I went to the dentist as the rootfilled tooth felt like it had something pushing under it and I couldnt bite on it.The dentist said I had a gum boil under it which had already burst by the time I saw her. My tooth no longer feels painful or "swollen" and my gum feels fine (not that it didnt before). However the top of the tooth still feels sensitive to touch in places-almost like there is actually a nerve there).

Dentist also mentioned possible "occulsal trauma" regarding this tooth. Now the tooth directly above this rootfilled-supposedly gumboiled one was one which she filled and was a bit 'point'. By that I mean it put pressure on the other one. I'm now worried i'm going to lose yet another tooth as a result of dodgy fillings

So I what i'm asking dentists is does this sound like sloppy work to you or just chance and circumstance.

Denplan pays for my appointments btw

Sorry that was supposed to say "a bit pointy" not a bit 'point'.

hey Herbie, are you a dentist? It's really hard as it took me ages to get into this surgery.

Tricksy - am not a dentist but have had recently switched from nhs practice to a private one.

The nhs one was just not great really and really poor manner with dc's.

Is it possible to go and see another dentist in a different practice for a check-up - you may have to pay though. Or do you have a dental hospital near you where they do a drop-in clinic?

Dental services are very frustrating - so hard to find an nhs one and then you seem to be stuck with them even if you feel they're no good.

Does seem like you've had a lot of problems though.

where are you living? Are there plenty of NHS dentists to choose from?

Yes actually. You never know. She may reply and after 18 months of tooth ache it was in MY opinion worth a shot. Thanks for sarcasm on the matter though!
