to think dh could have told me he will be too ill to look after kids tom am at some time before 11.30pm??

Poor you.

I can really sympathise.DP is poorly and has been unable to work for a while.He cannot lift dd up so I now work 8-12 shifts after I put kids to bed in the evenings,as its the only option.

What do you do if you don't mind me asking,could your employers be flexible given the circumstances?

Am nurse on ward so there are lots of us,so much more difficult for you.I really hope you manage to get somethng organised with it all.I also hope your dhis better soon.

Perhaps when his back is better it won't seem so hard to him. You know when you are ill or in pain everything seems too hard.

Some childminders will do early mornings too.
