If there had been someone wielding a knife and trying to get in your house (for example) I'm sure you would have been grateful - I doubt they were on exercise!

we get this all the time because there are often high ranking politicians staying across the street. The whole street gets cordonned off, police everywhere, helicopters and all the rest of it. It's a right pain. Did your dc wake up?

MUM23ASD · 11/06/2008 09:10

no...only me that woke up...so i am being unreasonable !!!!

One before after i'd heard it at night i found loads of trampled down plants in my garden- turned out quite a chase had happened through our street!!!

...i believe the pilot was quite considerate though...he didn't hover in one place for too long...he drifted away ...then came back...so i was able to doze of in between !!!

One woke me last night too, must be in the same area. I can understand if it will upset your children. Sometimes the laying awake awaiting is the worst feeling in the world

....think reason i got stressed is that we get alot of street crime (yobs jumping on our car roofs, kicking in car windows etc)and where is a police car let alone a helicopter then?!!

A few years ago, were trying out our new tent in the garden, and slept with the kids in it, they were little and so excited.

Police helicopter went over and then came back and circled over us, must have picked up 4 heat sensor bodies lying flat in the garden!

You know YABU though don't you?

MUM23ASD · 11/06/2008 09:22

Snora- LOL at your tent...and yes...i know i should be grateful that there are people out there (whilst we are safely tucked up in bed) keeping us safe.

How very dare they - you dont pay your taxes to be woken up in at 3am !

Crime should be 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday .

(unless ofcourse its 'happening in MY back yard'...when ofcourse i require INSTANT multiple helicopters!!!!)

mum23asd - sorry really not taking the piss but CaptainUnderpants made me LOL!! But Captain you have forgotten DC's naptime - no crime then either please!! Of course all our DC's nap at a different time so perhaps the police should knock quietly at each door first to enquire if the LO's are asleep!!

We get it a lot, I actually feel quite reassured by it. (reassured that they are watching over us, rather than reassured we obviously have multiple criminals rampaging round)

We get army helicoptors with the double propellers (don't know what they are called )flying over us in the early hours of the morning. Aparently they are practising their night flying ready for when they get sent to war. I can understand why they have to do it but it's still very annoying. They fly so low tht it makes the glass in the windows shake. The first timt they did it, I thought aliens were landing and woke up DH shouting 'oh my god, they've landed' . I can't describe the noise......it's actually very frightening.

MUM23ASD · 11/06/2008 09:53

those army ones make a reall thunderous vibrating noise don't they!

And I hardly think they chose to do it.

You should try living here (close enough to pencoed jail with its remarkanle lack of ability to detain inmates)! or when the big hotel down the road has Gordon Brown or whoever at a conference

not that it bothers me- even if it were an exercise, well, i'm very grateful for a well trained police force
