I went up to the counter to buy DP a packet of crisps, turned around to see, DP feeding DD full fatted, full caffeined coke, COKE i tell ya, to my 2.9 yo DD. I could tell a few of the other mothers had noticed . I told him in my bestest matronly voice that i do not want DD to have that. But then on noticing the looks from other mothers, i had to follow it up with.......you know we are going out tonight, we are going to have to counter that with doublde dose of medised - i just coudlnt stop myself.

I did promptly remove the coke and replace it with a cup of water.......i mean, COKE??? That makes fruit shoots pale in comparison

PFB, perchance?

But crisps? - saturated fat and slithers of potato, not really that great either? Bit of an inconsistency there worrying about coke when buying crisps (my children have both - but on an occasional basis)

Your op did make me laugh though with the medised comment!

I'm sure a sip of coke won't scar her for life.

Besides, how do you know that those mums don't slip Fruit Shoots and Gregg's sausage rolls to their dcs when they think no-one is looking

Oh blimey. I would have dropped to the floor and done a commando crawl out of there. I'm convinced coke is a LOT worse than a packet of crisps!

At least it was just a sip. Not like someone i know who gives her 16mth old coke in a bottle.

The thing is we ARE going out tonight, its our 16th anniversary and we havent been out for months - he is STILL doing bedtime

I know someone who puts her three year old to bed with TEA in a bottle!! Now im not commenting on whether or not tea is an appropriate drink for a LO, but WTF? Does she want him to be awake all night??? Cos that is what happens sometimes.....i don't bother to say anything. Its my SIL, and she is a great mum - but that really puzzles me.

Totally unreasonable - how would one cup hurt and you made DP look a total Twat.

I don't let my dd (nearly 2) have it but she just has to see the Diet Coke logo anywhere - supermarket, billboard, wherever ? and she shouts 'Mummy's!' at the top of her voice. Not that I'm addicted to it or anything .

Sorry but I am totally with you on this LEM.

I think Coke is completely unsuitable for a 3 year old! And the crisps were for her dp, not her dd!

But then I have a PFB too!!

theSuburbanDryad · 06/06/2008 20:29

Flashman, get over yourself fss. If her dp hadn't given her the coke in the first place he wouldn't have looked like a twat (if indeed he did)

So

if anyone made him look like a twat then he made himself look like a twat!

Hmm I must say he is a much better man than me then [tipping hat] and yes i think i really need to find a sense of humour for somewhere!!!

And whats bad about coke - ok sugar - but I would have thought a young kid could run off any sugar cals no problem? What about if diet coke??

god, your dp must have loved you undermining him in front of all those mums watching

theSuburbanDryad · 06/06/2008 20:32

Ummm

caffiene??! And if we're talking diet coke, what about the aspartame etc?!

will you be giving your dc coke then when they arrive Flashman? To avoid not looking like a twat, obviously. (You do seem very concerned with your image, imo )

I thought it was DS feeding DD the coke.

I think I must be a really bad mum

cos I really dont see coke as evil.

I see fizzy drinks as fine between lunch and tea

before lunch and after tea are fruit juice/milk only.

he is 3 ..no dental probs, his height and weight match and hd goes to bed and sleeps at 7.45 every night

The way I see it if you make it forbidden fruit it just becomes something they gorge on when allowed

I read threads like these and things ooopps
