last week he 'drove into someone else' on the other side of the road. He does not kow how this happened. the car is a write off. we have no money to get another, he alos offrred he other party to pay his 'excess' which he was originally told was £150. Now the bloke says it is £250, and he wants it on Friday and dh is proposing to just give this to the bloke - no proof or anything.

he cant get to work without a car, so me and his parents are rushing around taking and collecting him from work, ( i alos have a ft job and 3dcs to look after)

I'm just pssed off; at the cost - both of replacing the car, and that he just gives away £250 without even thinking - it will be my money as I earn almost all of the household income anyway; a his totally rubbish attitude to how/why this happened - this will be the second car he has written off in , 5 years; and the sheer f*ng inconvenience of taking him everywhere just because he has been a prat....

Make him learn the hard way, and stop driving him to and fro work.

He can try to get a free bike on that free recycling web site that I can't remember the name of just now, or I am sure he can figure out how to use a bus. Or god forbid walk.

Can't your DH ask for proof of the excess - presumably it's on the other guy's policy so he could give your DH a photocopy, or a letter from his insurers.

Don't drive him around!!! Why can't he get to work? No buses? Even if he has to take 3 and walk a mile, he bloody should! Like maisemor says, what about a bike? Or if you DO ferry him around he should repay that with washing up etc duties!!
He should get proof of the £250
Any money should come from his pocket - so no pub etc for a bit! He should be the one to have to cut back to claw back the money into family pot.

Accidents happen, but tbh I'd be pissed off with the attitude.
