AIBU?

AIBU to hang lacy underwear on the washing line of our overlooked garden?

Lighthearted

A friend of mine was shocked I hang my lacy undies/bras on the line to dry in our garden because the neighbours might see..

I think it is perfectly normal and reasonable to hang underwear on the line and that no-one looks/cares what washing people hang out?

AIBU?

YANBU

It's better than my neighbour hanging out her visibly stained underwear while we're eating lunch.

I think it's a bit unseemly, yes. But I realise I'm in the minority. I don't even have a washing line, that's how uptight I am!

My mil happily pegs out her massive white knickers and vast bras for all to see. Her garden is overlooked by a footpath & nature spot, so really all do see.

I wish I had nice lacy underwear to hang outside, mine are all old, fuddy duddy knickers that must be an eye sore to my poor neighbours. Perhaps I'll treat myself and them to some flashy knickers soon Grin

I do, but I have a whirlie so try to hide them on the inner lines so they are camouflaged by the other washing. Then again I have a very nosy neighbour who likes to observe everything that goes on in my garden by staring from his upstairs windows.

I'd hang underwear indoors, or on the inside of the washing rotary line so as to be covered by bigger clothes items. I never realised what a prude I must be!

Hehe no it's good to. People might think you are a bit wild.

Whirly line, pants inside, large towels on the outside to hide them. Job done!

YANBU although I don't do it unless I have other stuff to hide them with. Mine are proper mum pants though, the giant belly warmers (love apple catchers :o) I got post-CS and fell in love with Blush

If I had tiny, lace smalls I might pin them to the front door :o

Erm, not getting this. What is WRONG with the neighbours seeing? Don't get it.

What is actually the problem with lacy underwear that is so shocking? Do neighbours get offended by seeing it in the supermarket or something???

Or is it just because they might imagine you wearing it... which is as likely as them imagining you naked anyway!!!

Struggling with why it might be problematic to anyone but those who are quite frankly off their rockers!

YANBU!!!

Hehe @ apple catchers!

I hang mine out put I do usually hang them on the side behind the shed so no-one can see.

My mother used to get embarrassed hanging my tiny ones out incase the neighbours thought they were hers, but she apparently wasn't embarrassed about them seeing her massive granny pants.

I live on a row of back to back terraced houses with no gardens. An old bloke who lives down the street dries his greying Y-fronts on the washing line which hangs directly over the road between the two rows of houses Blush

I never used to hang out knickers or bras, but my DP does and I seem to have got over it. He is southern though.

I don't. Some of my neighbours do and I just don't WANT to see them. Yuk.

I don't get it either RedToothBrush I'm sure the neighbours already realise I most probably wear underwear. Although from my friend's reaction I was worried I was breaking some massive social convention by having it on the line. Unfortunately have a straight line so can't really hide them

I know the thread is lighthearted, but when I read the title I immediately thought of my EA ex who would have said:

"You are only hanging your lacy washing out to draw attention to yourself."

or

"You are only hanging out your lacy washing because you are flirting/shagging the neighbours."

These days I'm more embarassed about hanging out the sensible stuff.

I hang mine out.

Would never occur not to tbh.

I have a rotary also so they so in the middle.

Not to hide, just makes sense to me that the stuff that'll dry easiest goes on first.

It's just knickers. Jeeze my neighbour's back wall is about four metres from my back door and I hang everything out.

your friend is weird.

YANBU.

I don't really understand why anyone would be terribly interested in what other people have on their washing line anyway.
