AIBU?

AIBU to think they could have warned us

DH, DS(5) and I are camping at a lovely little site at a pub in a little village in Somerset.

We were supposed to be leaving today but it's so nice after the first night (tues) DH asked could we book an extra night, the lady running the pub/site said 'I don't think it'll be a problem but we are quite busy on Friday so I'll check the diary' couple of hours later she came back to us to let us know Friday was fine so we'd just stay an extra night.

Now here's the problem when she said Friday was busy we assumed (wrongly) that it was usual weekend/summer holiday campers, turns out this little pub with a beer garden no bigger than an inner city back garden, which backs on to the camp site is hosting a wedding reception.
Guests began to arrive at around 10am this morning we went out for the afternoon and when we came back at around 6.30pm the party was clearly in full swing, DS is still awake and we can hear some very enthusiastic singing coming from the beer garden. We live a 6.5hr drive away so going home tonight was not an option at that point.

AIBU to think when we asked about tonight she could have said 'we're busy on Friday with a wedding but I'll check availability for you' and that would have given us the option to change our minds and head home as planned.

It's a pub on a Friday night. Did you really expect it to be silent?

I didn't expect silence but it's in a village with about 15-20 houses at most, it's not on a main road to any where and normal Friday night pub noise is a bit different to singing in the garden and playing cricket in the camping field at 10pm!

I'm not suggesting that we should be expecting peaceful countryside silence just a little warning would have been nice Hmm

YANBU. They should at least have warned you.

Well I'd say yanbu in that she could have warned you, but a Friday night in a tent is rarely going to be a quiet affair!

Should have warned you, definitely.

See, I dont think I'd anticipate that much noise in a little country pub either, although I suppose it does make sense that it probobly would be noisy. I'm not sure why I'd think otherwise tbh Blush

Tbh Mojito I think the reason it's such a surprise is because we've heard nothing all week! A few people coming and going at 9ish and that's it.

Luckily DS is asleep now and DH and I are going to attempt bed shortly
