We live on a small cul-de-sac, we are the only family living amongst pensioners and professional couples (ie its very quiet)last year a new couple arrived. all good except they seem to be inviting friends over to fix cars and have a particular enthusiasm for modified exhausts. I have already had to have words about revving engines as I try to settle young children to bed and they have been fair. I know other neighbours have asked them to turn down stereos pumping from their garage while they fix cars in the communal parking areas. But there latest is the gf is missing and new gf(?) is hiding her super monster exhaust blowing car in the garage overnight but in a morning, she reverses car onto driveway revves engine before leaving the engine turning over to close the door gets back in her car, revs engine before roaring off.... all before 7am. It's driving me nuts and is so inconsiderate to all the neighbour's. Wwyd?

Approach as before and explain- if they've been reasonable then they're likely to listen.

Honestly I would take a hard line with this, maybe one more polite yet unequivocal request before taking it up with the council. Peace and quiet is so important to me, and this is needless noise.

Child-related noise is differentpeople have a human right to have kids/families. DIY noisealso different, typically necessary and finite.

But this is just a loud/douchey hobby they've decided to take up. There's no need for it. If they want to rev engines all day and night they need to find a place that's more isolated.

you might want to let the council know about the car repairs. certain jobs (anything to do with oil) can only be done in specified areas not on private land. also if they do repairs for others for money they are running a business and should do that in an area designed for it and pay their taxes etc.

Thank you for the responses, I have been tempted to take them breakfast at 6:30am over the weekend :-)
