AIBU?

getting a spray tan while breastfeeding

Obviously not going to feed Ds (14 months) while it's on. Having it done late abd will wash it off before he wakes up in the morning.
Should I wear a bra so the tan doesn't get on my boobs? Or just cover my nipples?
Or would it not come off my skin once its washed off? Going to a wedding at the weekend and never had a tan done before.

I would stick some breast pads over so it covers your whole areola (they wouldn't look not tanned anyway if you see what I mean!)
I don't think it would be that nice for the baby to be tasting spray tan!

I'd wipe after with wet cotton wool.

What if baby has a reaction to it when he's pressed against you whilst feeding?

I'm assuming you had to do a skin patch test at some point to make sure you didn't have a skin reaction?

I've done this. Baby ended up with slightly brown cheek and nose so I expressed a bottle the next time Smile

Also, beware of letdown when cold spray hits breast area Blush

I did it.
It was fine.

Well maybe put the baby down first Grin

As I said I'll be washing the tan off before I nurse. He doesn't nurse through the night so any residue will be well gone by the time I nurse so no worry about reactions or bronzed baby! Thanks that's a good idea using a nursing pad to cover areola.. Would also help if the cold spray encourages letdown! 2 birds with 1 stone :)

I am confused...why do you need a spray tan to go to a wedding?

I have been wondering the same thing as am
having one soon. I am going to wear a strapless bra
but only because I will have to feed before I wash it off- otherwise I would do the areola thing!

What is confusing about this situation?
A you unaware that spray tanning is a popular cosmetic procedure?
Are you unaware that most people like to "look their best" when they attend an occasion like a party or a wedding?

More likely imho is that you are making a pa judgey comment.

When I used to have spray tans it looked awful unless I left it a day then showered (you're supposed to leave it 10-12 hours before first shower)

Get a 'fast tan' all brands do them now, allows you to wash off sooner.

We were advised to cover nipples, for the wear and because no specific tests have been done regarding infants.

Otherwise you'll be fine; once the solution is washed off you shouldn't transfer

Icebeing - because in her earlier thread, OP revealed that her MIL-to-be had been captured by bandits during the hen weekend (held at the Rio Grande - maybe a bad decision on the part of the bride but nothing to be done now). The bandits have been in pretty much constant contact since then, and have fortunately downgraded their demands - they will release 'the bustling evil British gringo' unharmed if all the wedding guests have a spray tan and wear sombreros on the big day. It started off as 1 million pounds in cash and a thousand cake pops, so really they are very lucky. Just goes to show you should NEVER ASSUME or be Hmm on even the most shallow seeming thread.

I've never been able to remove a spray tan after a day and I usually get it done the day before I need it as it looks best never a shower.

I would stick to an instant type tan that will wash off

Op as this is your 1st spray tan make sure you put old bedding on and wear dark colours the next day.

No idea about breast feeding, but I would just cover the nipple any way.

Thanks fore all your replies ladies, had the tan. Looks great. I covered my nipples with large round plasters :D
Ds slept all night and I washed it off early in the morning before he woke up.
