Surely in JULY There should be some bloody kids shorts still available to buy.

We normally buy the boys clothes online or in supermarkets to keep costs reasonable.

Today I have been to Sainsburys, Morrisons, absolutely no kids shorts.

Online I have checked H and M, tesco, Next and a few other random places, they either have nothing or there are a few very odd bits own the sale.

I just expected there to still be shorts in the hottest part of the year!!

I bought a few in Gap last week in the sale. Maybe try a camping shop?

iwantavuvezela · 30/07/2014 18:00

If young enough just cut some old leggings or jeans and hem! Instant shorts.

wtffgs · 30/07/2014 18:02

YABU not to have organised yourself properly and done your holiday shopping in February! Wink

A local lingerie shop looked Shock at me when I asked to buy a bikini in .............. August Hmm

Eggsaregoodforyou · 30/07/2014 18:02

I want, that's a good Idea for anyone with a modicum of craft ability but I was not blessed in that department. They would look like a five year old have gone mad with scissors!!

Debenhams have them in their sales

PseudoBadger · 30/07/2014 18:03

We've also had this problem, only 'summer sales' in store last couple of weeks and everything is sold out.

Eggsaregoodforyou · 30/07/2014 18:04

To be honest the weather in this country is so unreliable that I like to see how the summer seems to be panning our before getting loads of summer stuff.

The boys do have some shorts but not enough to see the through 9 days of holiday coming up.

Primark or Sports Direct, had the same problems also

Purpleflamingos · 30/07/2014 18:07

I'm struggling too.
It's the same as buying school uniforms in July. What if the dc grow over the summer?

Leeds2 · 30/07/2014 18:07

They had plenty in our local Tesco last week. Only looked at girls' clothes though.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 30/07/2014 18:08

YADNBU
But if you really need to go diy use iron-on hemming web. All you need is a scissors an iron and the webbing. If you're really cack handed you can use a ruler to mark the line to cut.

CMOTDibbler · 30/07/2014 18:09

I got ds a load from Sports Direct. At £2.49 a pair you can't go wrong

Giraffeski · 30/07/2014 18:09

It's the same with maternity shorts Angry

YankNCock · 30/07/2014 18:10

Same problem here! I eventually found some in H&M, after trying Primark, Tesco, Asda, Matalan, and BHS.

One of the shop assistants said they normally have shorts in around February/March Hmm What bloody use is that to anyone?

DragonMamma · 30/07/2014 18:10

Peacocks had loads for everybody!

Eggsaregoodforyou · 30/07/2014 18:11

Just remembered I tried Asda and peacocks at the weekend too!!!!

Woman in primark looked at me as though I was stupid yesterday when I asked about a kids swimsuit. I pointed out that swimming pools are open ALL FUCKING YEAR. I was a bit politer than that but really ...

Bunbaker · 30/07/2014 18:14

"To be honest the weather in this country is so unreliable that I like to see how the summer seems to be panning our before getting loads of summer stuff."

It doesn't work like that in retail though. When I want summer clothes I buy them early so that I know I can have what I want in the right size. I am too familiar with how retail works to leave such things until last minute.

I agree that it is irritating not to be able to buy clothes appropriate for the season in season.

You might be lucky and find what you want on holiday. I bought DD a bikini in Italy last year because she couldn't find one last August at home.

I will never be as organised as to buy clothes six months ahead, and indeed it would be ridiculous as my kids are growing fast so a lot would end up wasted.

Do you know what style and ages?

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 30/07/2014 18:22

YANBU. It's ridiculous. We usually take our summer hols in September and have been caught out more than once when looking for shorts and vests.

You have more chance if buying a winter coat in august than summer stuff FFS.

I've seen school uniforms in shops recently so if you need those you had best guess how much your DCs are going to grow over the summer and go out quickly to get it.
