Maybe they are insecure about the way they look? Could it be that it is one thing to put a swimming costume on, but removing the make-up and being au naturel is a step too much for them?

If I had make up on before I went swimming I wouldn't bother taking it off.

I run to the swimming pool, throw myself in the pool to do my target distance for an hour, then get back to my desk, so if I was wearing makeup I'd quite easily forget to take it off

Because maybe they've come from work - or are en route to work - and don't intend to put their face in the water? Do they have a up-do as well? This could be me...

I have to say that I heart the perfume wearers in the pool, it's usually nice perfume and it smell better than chlorine.

some people have semi permanent makeup. could be that.

If I had it in during the day I don't usually bother taking it off, I do breaststroke so it stays on. I don't purposely try to keep my face dry though.

Either they are very insecure or they didn't have time to take it off.

Well, if it's your normal routine to get up and put make up on, would it be normal to remove it to swim? No idea, i rarely wear it but it seems likely to me that she put it on for her normal day and happened to swim at some point rather than that she got made up to go swimming

Wearing a 'full face' of makeup means that you are insecure? What?!

It doesn't mean that you ARE insecure, but it COULD mean that you are.
I have a friend who never lets anyone see her without a full face of make-up, including her husband. She is insecure about how she looks.

Perhaps she has terrible skin? I had acne for 20 years and didn't remove my makeup for the gym or swimming. I just wanted to look normal like every other person.

I don't think I've ever removed my make up before swimming. In fact I know I haven't- I usually do the wipe off bits afterwards

Didn't take my make up up off before going for a swim

And I don't put my face in the water so it usually stays on

I go to a rather chavvy spa where lots of young men take ladies for dates.

Lots of done up girls desperately holding heads above the jacuzzi water and avoiding the steam rooms.

Because they are less of a person than you are?

They probably spend hardly any time with their kids either.

People who wear 'full' make up are like that.

apparently

I don't take mine off before I swim... It doesn't smear, so I don't need too. Feels like a waste of make up and a waste of time! I just fix it afterwards if I need too.

No insecurity, really. No active thoughts on this at all. It doesn't cross my mind.

Kerrymumbles: you haven't encountered waterproof makeup then?

I do granny breaststroke so I come out looking much like I got in.
I go to the gym with make up on too.
I'm shallow in the shallow end.

My sister does this. She doesn't get her hair or face wet because she's insecure about her natural curly hair and her skin.

She wears makeup to the gym too, and to bed so even our parents haven't seen her makeup free in 2 years, I've tried telling her she'll get less acne if she doesn't work out and sleep in a face full of heavy makeup but it's a vicious circle.

I detest the perfume wearers in the pool. I far prefer the smell of chlorine.

Oh and I'd like to add her bad skin is actually because her face is never clean, it's not hormonal acne or anything. I know that washing your face 25 times a day wouldn't help hormonal/cystic acne.
