AIBU?

Would I be unreasonable to wear...

I have a family wedding coming up. I'm not part of the bridal party, but it is close family so want to make a bit of an effort. The bride said she didn't want anyone turning up in their colours so didn't want to tell anyone. I said she would need to tell so that I could avoid said colours. Navy & Red. Would it be really rude if I bought a dark pink dress I've seen? worrying its a bit close to red? I'm a terrible shopper & haven't found anything else?

Difficult to say without seeing the dress. But, tobe honest, as she's told you the colours, she may take it as deliberate. It's a little bit too close to red. Unless is patterned with other colours.

I'd avoid and find something else.

If her main priority on her wedding day is to observe the colours of everyone else's attire- question her mental state.

I'm also baffled as to how you are relating dark pink and red? Completely different in my mind.

Go for it, it is not red (or navy!).

Definitely looks pink rather than red to me. Order ir, see what it's like in daylight, show it to the bride if you're still worried and if it's not right send it back.

I think it's very bridezilla behaviour to ask guests not to wear certain colours. Granted, the photos look nice when everyone adheres to a colour theme but I think it's OTT to ask this (apart from the MIL wearing white!)

I'd wear the dress.

That is pink and very nice too. I'd go for it :) Definitely not red.

Do not understand "reserved colours" though, does this happen often at weddings?

Very pretty, not even nearly red. Go for it.

That dress is not red.

Navy and red for the bridal party? They are going to look like cabin crew.

I don't get this; she didn't want anyone turning up in 'their' colours but didn't want to tell you what the colours were?
That's pink- go for it.

I'd wear whatever you like.

Why can't brides just be happy that their marrying someone they love, that friends and family are coming to see them, without telling people what they can/can't wear? It's really shitty behaviour imo.

This bride has been sucked into the vortex of bridezillaness.

Hmmm... First off, I'd like to make the point that I think the bride has gone a little doolally.... However, you did ask and she has told you and I think it's too similar to red. I wouldn't wear it.
