I'm honestly shocked! A front page I saw today was that Rory bloody McEloy had lunch with a model! It's hardly a slow news week Sad

I had a post on Facebook last night saying I was shamelessly watching Geordie Shore and this morning I put up Gaza related petition and exactly double the number of people liked my Geordie Shore thing. I know I know it's Facebook but I just cannot understand why so few people seem to care!!

I don't agree. The Gaza conflict has been heavily reported in each paper I have read and on every news bulletin. The plane tragedy has slightly overshadowed but that's because of the shock of the incident and Brits involved.

You're post proves the point magpie It's not a conflict it's genocide.

Report
Territt16 · 23/07/2014 17:44

its not genocide, its Israel defending itself from people who time and time again attack them!

Yes, boys playing football on a beach are actually deadly killers Hmm

Five month old babies are too. So are all the other civilians slaughtered in Gaza.

They all have to be murdered so Israel can be safe.

The official term used for what is happening in there is 'conflict' although I don't think that is relevant to the the point the OP was making.

I have just had a look at 10 different UK based news websites, the only two that didn't have obvious headlines about Gaza were the Sun and the Mirror. The rest had at least one up to date report near the top of the page.

One thing I would add is that media is incredibly biased around the world about this situation, if your only frame of reference is the UK media (and social media) I would take some time to read reports from other news agencies around the world to get more of a balanced view.

Sadly, whilst I agree with you, I've been avoiding the news over the last couple of weeks as it is sooooo depressing, even more so than usual. I don't normally stick my head in the sand so perhaps I'm not alone and the media is catering for that. I usually buy a sunday newspaper but didn't last weekend as the headlines put me off.
I find the whole Isreal Palestine conflict so utterly bleak and depressing with no solution in sight.

Sorry but it IS genocide. Bombarding an entire people who are penned in and can't escape, including slaughtering over 100 CHILDREN is genocide. If it looks like genocide, acts like genocide and is an act of aggression on an entire people just because of who they are then that is genocide.

brokenhearted indigenous people being forced from their homes and to where? Where can they go then? Elsewhere in Gaza of course- and they're totally safe there aren't they? Oh, wait......

No. I don't recall seeing anything about the 'Magaluf' incident except online. I read The Times, listen to R4 and watch C4 news. The coverage of the ongoing conflict in Gaza has been extensive.

Genocide is the systematic destruction of all or part of a racial, ethnic, religiousor national group via the (a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

Over 600 bodies and counting. I think genocide is exactly Israel's intent..

Israel gets attacked almost every day, at some point they have to kill the people that openly want them dead.

territt What a disgusting apologist post. Defence my ass Israel are deliberately murdering hundreds of innocent civilians. The UN has just voted to investigate them for war crimes. About fucking time someone did something. I am thoroughly ashamed that Ireland and tge UK abstained from the vote. Despicable.Angry Angry Angry

Territt, you are an Israeli apologist, an apartheid campaigner. You obviously enjoy seeing dead children and love Ayelet Shaked's abhorrent views on palestinian children. What Israel is doing is a genocide, a holocaust. Please do not be a holocaust denier.

The world's problems (mostly terrorism) stem from the actions of one tiny country-Israel.
As if it's not enough that they went and bulldozed people off their land- now they are even attacking them, killing babies without a care. And these are people who experienced genocide!
Today it is 989 Palestinian civilians killed as opposed to 3 Israeli soldiers- where is the sense in that?!!!!
And because of their stupid arrogance, the world is going to experience some awful actions (God forbid) where innocent people will die and all because Israel think the world owes them.
As an American, I am utterly ashamed.

The accusation in the thread title is plainly ridiculous. It's been reported really quite heavily. What news are you watching?
