No inheritance but do have a garden. Never had one growing up though. My gps had a front and back garden wow we loved that. And sun loungers( those patterned fold up ones). The bees knees they were.

I know what you mean.

People in huge, beautiful houses helped to buy by their parents, mortgage free by 40, expensive clothes/bags/shoes/make up. Private schools, 2 or more holidays abroad a year.

Must try not to feel jealous.

Ha-ha Grin

What's going on in General Travel? Spontaneous weekend breaks in the Maldives?

I have no inheritance, I have a garden. Smile

I only got to page one of the inheritance thread, was it that bad then OP? Lots of people being given massive lumps? I imagine a lot of tragedy lead to that inheritance though.

I have a shared garden? No inheritance though.

I cut my own hair the other day.

I am wearing my husband's clothes because I can't afford maternity clothes.

HOWEVER I am the happiest I've ever been and I have a lovely dh, a beautiful son and one on the way. Plus it was sunny today.

Just different things on here that make me chuckle! Hell if my parents died tomorrow I'd get a shed load of strange ornaments and a spaniel who likes to fan his nuts under the ceiling fan :-D

I don't mind when I see people talking about expensive holidays, houses or private schools but on mumsnet you see a lot of comments about how nobody could possibly support a family on £X a year! And I'm sat there thinking, well, I do support a family on £X a year because I have to.

Oh and the solution to everything is to get a nanny. Like those are cheap.

I had the big income, nice bags, great holidays, fantastic large home and all that went with it, it was fantastic. It went, life is still great it is no different, just less choices and freedom now.

I remember somebody stating on here that they had a yearly 30K holiday budget. While I am quite comfortable myself and manage a few holidays a year both foreign and in the UK I was totally slack jawed at that figure

There seem two extremes on Mumsnet - those who live in mansions, afford school fees, have a nanny and the 30k holiday budget Hmm and those who have to make a chicken last seven meals and get up in arms if the school asks for £1 for a mufti day.

Don't most of us muddle along in the middle somewhere?

If anyone would like my garden please come round Grin.

I like the threads where the op does not give their income.
And then are genuinely shocked that people can work it out. It doesnt occur to them that becuase they mention tennis club, a month's travel holiday abroad for their son, and their teenage children do not need financially to work over the summer, that we are going to work it out without them having to say about it!

I have a garden. Haven't had a holiday for 8 years though. I think I'm in the middle. 30k holiday budget is obscene though I don't earn that a year

We have a garden, don't know about inheritance as aged parent/parent in law may need care and their worldy goods may need to be sold to pay for this. We also have a huge mortgage and the usual outgoings for a family of 5.

I am genuinely amazed at the amount of money that seems to be sloshing around the UK at at time when we're supposed to be on an economic downer.
