AIBU?

Probably am being unreasonable....

DH cleaned out the garage on Sunday (did a brilliant job, looks beautiful).
I walked in as he was finishing to find him using my lovely Miele cat and dog vacuum cleaner (not the spare Vax one we've got or the hand held oreck which is in the garage for cars etc.) to vacuum the garage.
I have tried to use it this morning and found that not only did he use it, he didn't put the hard floor head on to vacuum the concrete garage floor, no he used the carpet cat and dog attachment which is now NOT WORKING! I could cry it's the only thing that gets the dog hair off my carpet and I've told him so many times before. Probably am being unreasonable to be so upset but with an 8wk old baby,a 2.5yr old and a hairy flat coat I need a working vacuum....Argh!

However I have a sneaking suspicion I might not be entirely reasonable at the moment. I just cried at a clip on Facebook about a 5' lady called Kacey completing an obstacle course......

Reminds me of the time my DH used my incredibly expensive chef's knife to undo the screws on ds's new train set one Xmas and broke the end off. I was raging!!

Pass the problem over to DH.

Call him at work and say whist you appreciate what a wonderful job he did the vacuum cleaner head is now dead so as you are a little emotional and stressed today please could he order for next day delivery or collect at lunch time a replacement head as you are worried about cleanliness of house for DC and your sanity.

This way he knows he did wrong without you blaming him, so he also feels bad and may buy you a 'make it up to you' gift. Plus he now has to worry about sorting out new head not you.

Have a cuppa and a biscuit and try not to think about it. Yes he was a pain in the arse and didn't listen to you (my DH drives me crazy with things like this) but you have enough on your plate at the moment and ranting at him will probably make you feel better for a bit but won't solve the problem.

I would need to have a good moan about this to someone in rl too if I was you so call a friend and get it off your chest.

Ha ha! This is an interesting for me, as I'm planning to get a similar pet hair vacuum. My dp is a builder who is used to a Henry, which can can and will Hoover up any old crap, but sadly not great with pet hair. We will keep the Henry for other jobs, but I am weighing up whether to ban him from using the new one altogether. I can just imagine him hoovering up rubble with it. YANBU!

Ok. Breathe, this is not a big deal and is simply rectified. Not worth getting upset over. Just tell DH the head isnt working and that he needs to either have it repaired or replace it.

Tempted Killa bit didn't want ds's earliest Christmas memory to be me stabbing his dad with a broken chef's knife.

Annoyingly he would never use a lovely new Hoover in the garage he has a henry for dusty DIY jobs and is usually very particular about not using good stuff for dirty jobs.

YANBU for being upset, but it's probably easily fixed. Ask him to have a look at it, and replace the attachment if he can't fix it... Seems only fair he does!

Yep. Get him to order the new parts it needs. Miele parts aren't cheap so the price will make him think twice about doing it again and it's less hassle for you.

TBH I'm plain amazed you find time to hoover with baby and toddler - you're putting me to shame, but go you! well done :)

I also marvelled at Kacey's awesomeness today Grin

Kacey made me feel slightly ashamed that I can't even do the kids monkey bars at our local park. Pathetic!

We need to see photos of your Flatcoat. I love them and they're not overly commonplace.

puds11 was going to suggest the same :) Sorry, OP, not saying that I am finding your post funny or the fact that you are upset. Would most definitely attempt to kill DH for something like that myself.
