AIBU?

To not like to be told what I think/experience about something?

I really find adverts/pitches which start with 'We all....' 'Everybody....' 'You ...'

I know they're trying to engage with the audience but they don't know what I think/feel/have experienced and I wish they wouldn't tell me they do.

Oh I agree. I rarely identify with adverts and this kind of thing really pisses me off.
"We ALL want the best for our kids" (Don't have any, fuck off, Smuggo)
"You KNOW you need a new yoghurt in your life" (Rather have a Big Mac)
"Where will YOU invest your retirement fund?" (Hahahaha)

I hate the "we all die someday - so take care of your loved ones and save them the worry of paying for your funeral" (caring voice) mind you, you do get a free parker pen!
I also really hate" talking" food - choc bars with slogans on the wrapper "Hi, I am new nutty caramel and i'm creamyl" sod off you were made in a factory and you cant talk.

I love a good assumption :

Britain's favorite furniture store....

Britain's favorite department store...

Er..when did I vote?

Would that be more of a Brazen Lie, rather than an assumption though, Wally?

I find it far more annoying when people IRL do it.

For example, former friend on the song from Disneys Brave... "You will love it because you are scottish".

REALLY Hmm she was a patronising little bitch anyway, hence being a former 'friend'

YANBU.

I hate the postcode lottery advert for many reasons, not least the annoying what's her name woman who prevents it. I once watched that damn ad immediately after watching the same damn woman promoting a children's charity on the previous ad: "If like me, you're a mum, you'll know how we all want to give our children the best start in life, but imagine knowing your child has no chance." [fast forward to next ad] "You could win millions with the postcode lottery!" Well waheyhey what's your name! Good to know you're dedicated to the cause.

Also, yes I am a mum and yes, like most mums, I want to give my child the best start in life. However, I, like most mums, knew that already.

'You wouldn't steal a car'. Just fucking try me after I've watched your damn advert on the DVD I paid for. If I thought it was your car, who knows what I'd do.

Yes, in real life, in the Scottish independence debate. I get fed up of being told "So you should vote X because you don't like xyz", "So you think x, therefore you should vote X" etc.. Stop trying to second guess what I think!

'Take it from us, you're doing great'. SMA Nutrition fuckers. I HATE that ad, not quite what you meant OP but while you're talking about annoying ads. Its so condescending, stupid smug voiceover.

Gladstone Cunting Brooks.
Look, I don't have any PPI, mis-sold, or otherwise, I've checked. Stop implying that I'm a bit too stupid to realise I could reclaim a lot of money. If I could, I sure as damnit wouldn't be using you shysters.

It's annoying, but "We ALL want xyz!" is still better than "Am I the only one who ABC's??!" Yes, you are: there are seven billion people alive today and you are THE ONLY ONE out of ALL OF THEM who does/thinks/likes whatever you're boring on about.

Humpty perhaps you'd be better off with ?

I had a (ex) friend who used to do this and then ended our friendship because she didn't agree with my views - still not sure how she knew what they were!

I do like the old anti-piracy advert on dvds. The makers got done for copyright infringement because the they didn't pay for the music they used. Grin

I like shouting at adverts, especially any that say 'have a happy period'.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 17/06/2014 23:34

Youthecat if you can't enjoy a happy period perhaps eating some yogurt might help. Women love yogurt.

The new Vanish ad winds me up. Everyone in it extolling its virtues is female. Cos men don't do washing and even if they did would just bung it in and definitely wouldn't think to use vanish.

Sorry completely OT but I needed a little rant.

Nokia Lumina - just seen it for the first time and wondering how they didn't manage to get her cooking dinner or popping out a sprog - so sexist! So why play 'Brave' over the end and pretend it means the whole thing wasn't about some ditsy girl who is crap at technology and just likes shopping?
Fucking adverts - THIS IS WHY I WATCH IPLAYER!Apart from itv playback for Secret Life Of Babies just now, clearly!
