AIBU?

Muller Ad and Nicole Sherzinger

Last week I complained to the ASA after my five year old saw the Nicole Sherzinger muller ad (the one where she is in the back of the car and allows the yoghurt to go all over her face whilst making sexual noises). According to the ASA it is clear she is "simply enjoying the yoghurt and is not engaged in a sexual act". AIBU to think that they are wrong. The ad is clearly trying to sell yoghurt under the premise that it is "orgasmic". She might not be engaged in a sexual act, but the entire advert is portraying that she is?

Er, what now?
You complained, about an advert for yoghurt?
Seriously the only complaint about that ad is just how awful and wooden she is.....................

i think its a stupid ad and she makes me not want to buy yoghurt lol. of course she is acting as though the product is making her orgasm but she does that with every product she tries to advertise. maybe she would be better off promoting products for men, they might appreciate it more.

i do think though the whole act would go right over a childs head.

Agree with Fili. I thought this would be AIBU to think she can't act for toffee.

Although adults may perceive her to be making orgasmic noises children wouldn't have a clue! They would just think she really, really loves yoghurt!

Given her ability to get so excited about both yoghurt and shampoo, I can only conclude that Lewis Hamilton must be incredibly dull.

Or that she truly is a dippy mare.

Your 5 year old couldn't make the connections you have surely. What are you upset about?

Report
beccajoh · 16/06/2014 12:08

Does you child know she's faking an orgasm?

Yabu.

The advert rubbish you're overthinking it.

I'm on your side OP I hate every damn thing having a sexual innuendo attached. Maybe a yr 5 child wouln't make the connection, but maybe a yr 6 would - what's the difference really

yeah yeah sex sells before someone jumps in to say it

It will go over a childs head of course.

But if my child started mimicking orgasmic noises because of some shitty attempt to sell yogurt or shampoo I wouldn't much be impressed.

Not likely to happen though I suppose!

I hate that add too OP. It's not that a child will know or understand that she's faking an orgasm but kids do copy a lot of what they see and hear and I hate that so much of popular culture is saturated with sexual innuendo. I don't want my daughter to grow up feeling that she has to speak, act or look like idiots like Miley or NS.

Did you complain about herbal essences too?

Report
piplypip · 16/06/2014 12:23

I know what you mean but I think it's almost worse when a 'popular' celebrity is involved as I think kids might be more influenced by them.

Another tiresome irritation Gast!

NOBODY COMES FROM YOGHURT AND SHAMPOO, ADVERTISERS so cut it out.

My 8 yr old just wanted to know why she didn't have her seatbelt on.

I mean, if you are going to eat yoghurt in the car, you need to take some precautions.

I understand where you're coming from on this as I thought it was too sexual the 1st time I saw the ad & also the shampoo one too... I wouldn't feel the need to complain but I do think is there really any need for the 'orgasm groaning noises' can't she just say... 'Oh delicious yogurt' .. No need for it really because all it does is annoy people!!

At least she doesn't splash it all over her tits.

TBH, the jiz on the face inference will be a bit lost on your average 8 year old.....

Thenapoleonofcrime · 16/06/2014 12:39

I'm so thick, I didn't get that inference either, just thought she was a bit clumsy.

I'm so glad these adverts go over my head.

still i wouldn't want my 8 year old smearing yoghurt on her face and moaning.
She really really likes yoghurt too

maybe I'm an illiberal 1950's godbothering fascist.... No, that's not it

Umm YABU, although the advert is shit. It doesn't make me want to buy yoghurt, it makes me want to buy Nicole Scherzinger acting lessons.
