exceeded the targets for the MN giving week?

Here's the thread link:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2087731-Giving-Week-is-here-donate-funds-to-MNer-nominated-organisations-and-MNHQ-will-match-them?msgid=47541127

Wikipedia tells me that there are 4,800,000 monthly users of MN. So if we all just get a quid each, that'd be £4.8m. So £25k should be more than achievable.

I see that some of the causes have reached their target, but what Womens' Aid have only had just over a grand.

MN are offering to match our donations, and there's gift aid too, so it's a very effective way of donating.

A quid each. More if you can afford it.

*give a quid each, not get.

StickEmUpSkywards Sun 08-Jun-14 14:30:24

Okay mardy blush

OwlCapone Sun 08-Jun-14 14:31:06

Perhaps they prefer to give to their own choice of charity.

dietcokefan Sun 08-Jun-14 14:31:21

Well I give every month to charity via direct debit and it is no business of yours or anyone else's which charities I choose to support. Quiet giving without publicity is just as good as making a song and dance about it. So YABU.

Virtual flowers and brew and wine and cake and [biscuits] for anyone who donates/has donated or bumps this thread.

We can do this.

Icelollycraving Sun 08-Jun-14 14:31:30

I didn't even know this was happening blush

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:32:17

Bloody hell. AIBU at its best.

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:33:15

"I didn't even know this was happening"

Which is exactly why I wanted to highlight it on the busiest part of the site.

Guitargirl Sun 08-Jun-14 14:33:21

YABVU

candycoatedwaterdrops Sun 08-Jun-14 14:33:43

Eh?

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:33:44

It's the last day of giving btw, so fingers out now. wink

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:34:06

Would you care to elaborate guitargirl

candycoatedwaterdrops Sun 08-Jun-14 14:34:18

It's fine to highlight it in case people haven't seen but a lecture just turns me off.

ClashCityRocker Sun 08-Jun-14 14:34:26

Um, I know this is just a technicality, but you can't actually just give a quid? I think it's £2 minimum of just giving.

OwlCapone Sun 08-Jun-14 14:35:07

Bloody hell. AIBU at its best.

??

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:35:15

"It's fine to highlight it in case people haven't seen but a lecture just turns me off."

I am trying to be controversial to stir up some interest ffs.

ScarlettDragon Sun 08-Jun-14 14:35:25

Have just donated to the Women's Aid page.

StickEmUpSkywards Sun 08-Jun-14 14:36:00

I didnt know how easy it was ...Mardy thanks for drawing my attention to it.

CrystalSkulls Sun 08-Jun-14 14:36:09

the two who need more are Womens Aid and Cake for Kids.

personally i think cake for kids is a daft idea.

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:37:10

"personally i think cake for kids is a daft idea."

There are five charities there though.

lougle Sun 08-Jun-14 14:37:32

YANBU to be disappointed. YABU to tell us to do something about your disappointment.

Guitargirl Sun 08-Jun-14 14:38:55

Well actually, I take that back, you are not being unreasonable to be disappointed as obviously you are entitled to feel how you want.

But you are being unreasonable - IMO - to try to demand that people donate to charities, chosen by others, when they may have perfectly good reasons for not doing so.

MardyBra Sun 08-Jun-14 14:38:57

"Um, I know this is just a technicality, but you can't actually just give a quid? I think it's £2 minimum of just giving."

My apologies. Didn't realise that.

Shakirasma Sun 08-Jun-14 14:40:20

Thanks MardyBra. I didn't know about this, so I have now donated the women's aid.
