Such as The Phoenix and the Carpet etc.

We'd all watch them together with toast round the fire.

Wonder why they don't do them now.

They used to show them running upto Christmas... I loved The box of delights.
There's no good book based series any more Sad

We used to record them all. My parents still have most of them! I have the BBC Narnia on DVD Grin

(I actually went up the aisle at my wedding to the theme tune from Narnia...)

You'd look forward to it,not the same as a DVD.

Maybe that is part of the reason Dr Who is so popular. It's on earlier and suits all ages.

They were wonderful. You are right - a real shame.

Toms midnight garden... Yes, they were lovely. But I think it's the fact that times have changed and tv on demand has completely altered how people view tv. Just out of my own group of friends I know several who never watch live tv any more. There is no longer that sense of having to sit down as family at a certain time. Of course there are lots of pluses to having more freedom of choice; but I agree that it does mean a loss in some ways

Oh yes. We watched these every Sunday, whilst mum did the ironing, I sorted the socks and dad cooked a roast dinner.

Tried to recreate this with ds last week, but we watched lassie instead whilst he sorted socks. He was a bit Hmm but I enjoyed it!
