......for the third time for the office christmas party? grin

DH says not (obviously) wink and I intend to do it anyway (it looks amazing, I hate shopping and have expensive taste). But is anyone else repeating????

CoffeeTea103 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:25:50

Good advice from your DH smile

FortyDoorsToNowhere Mon 11-Nov-13 19:26:52

I couldn't even remember what some one else wore a year ago.

If people think less of you for it then they are the twats not you

MamaBear17 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:27:03

I can't remember what any of my collegues wore to my last work do! YANBU!

Pobblewhohasnotoes Mon 11-Nov-13 19:27:32

No. I wouldn't repeat.

Lovely expensive dresses should be worn often - especially if they look amazing!! I prefer to have a smaller number of things that cost a bit more for special occasions - so I'm a big fan of the 'cost per wear' system! 1 Hermes scarf worn 2 times a week for 3 years = 86p per wear and going down all the time! (If my maths is correct....) :-)

EvaBeaversProtege Mon 11-Nov-13 19:29:59

Yes, deffo wear it again smile I would.

Lepreporn Mon 11-Nov-13 19:30:00

We were only talking about this in work today.
Nobody can remember anyone's outfits from last years do. I
can't wear the same dress as I have lost 2 stone.
I'd say yes to wearing it again for you.

I only remember what someone wore if they made a big deal talking about it beforehand. So I remember my friend's rainbow dress, my colleague's "brand new special designer dress" for our ex-boss' leaving do hmm, and the unfortunate pulling cleavage-spilling outfit from a friend years back, but hardly anything else.

Wear it again! I have a lovely cocktail dress, the likes of which I can't find new anywhere else and probably never will again. I must have worn it to various events at least 20 times now.

Scotslasslivinginfrance Mon 11-Nov-13 19:36:31

Definitely wear it! You could also accessorize it differently, buy new earrings / cocktail ring so that it feels different to you and just enjoy wearing it and have a fab time...

Who would be sad enough to
a) remember what someone wore 12 months ago or,
b) care?

574ejones Mon 11-Nov-13 19:37:33

Go for it, but with different accessories.

brettgirl2 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:38:44

hahaha well I don't have cleavage to spill anywhere blush

I'm glad the majority say yes. Its just my friend was on about having to go shopping and what a pita.... I'm thinking why bother? The blokes will all be in the same suit.

DH has even offered to take it to the dry cleaners for me hmm

HyvaPaiva Mon 11-Nov-13 20:02:12

Definitely wear it! Same dress, different accessories.

Bubbles1066 Mon 11-Nov-13 20:04:09

As others have said, people won't remember what you wore, I bet you can't remember what they wore last year unless it was a disaster/really mental. I'd by new shoes or something and just wear the same dress. I'm on the third year of my lovely party dress now.

ImAlpharius Mon 11-Nov-13 20:06:12

Wear it, I have a lovely dress that I have worn to all my dc baptisms, will probably wear it for number 4 as well, different accessories makes it look a bit different.

NachoAddict Mon 11-Nov-13 20:09:19

Wear it, noone will notice or care.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood Mon 11-Nov-13 20:16:59

Wear the dress.

I'm not so sure though that no one will remember. I went to a Christmas party last year and one of the hosts wore a beautiful black lace cocktail dress that she had also worn to the same event the previous year. I adore black lace and remembered it as I recalled loving it the year before.

I had only good thoughts about it though and certainly didn't think any less of her for wearing such a lovely dress more than once.

SugarHut Mon 11-Nov-13 20:49:39

It depends I think. I'd wear the same thing to several parties if they weren't all the same people at each one. Also depends on the look of the dress...no one will remember your outfit at all if it's a safe "little black dress" option...whereas if your dress is some red ruffley number which really stands out, they are likely to notice it's been out for three years on the trot.

Not that it especially matters...either way grin

ZillionChocolate Mon 11-Nov-13 21:31:57

Wear it.

Lilacroses Mon 11-Nov-13 21:34:02

Wear what you like. I have about 4 lovely "going out" dresses that rarely see the light of day as we so rarely dress up. I've worn them in rotation for about 5 years! Do people really care/notice?

Donkeyok Mon 11-Nov-13 22:22:14

The Queen does it.

Amy106 Tue 12-Nov-13 03:37:49

Wear it and enjoy the party. No one will remember.

SecretLimonadeDrinker Tue 12-Nov-13 04:04:31

YANBU I say wear it if it makes you feel good. I'm definitely recycling a dress this year, I have so many and it seems silly to only wear them once or twice. I wouldn't think any less of someone who wore the same dress twice or even thrice.
