AIBU?

To be considering webcam work?

Haven't even name changed...eeeek

I am slowly trying to start my own business. Slowly because I don't have enough money, don't yet have enough equipment and am a lone parent.

I have seriously been considering taking up online webcam work to earn extra money to buy the equipment I need.

I have checked out a few websites, you can block certain countries from seeing you so nobody I know would have to find out! Getting undressed is not necessary and infact banned on some sites outside of 'private shows' and I could do it as and when I want (ie when DS is in bed)

Have I completely lost my mind or does it make sense?

If you are not starkers, then what other things would your clients be asking for?

How could you stop someone recording your 'show' and sticking it on youtube for anyone to find?

noblegiraffe's point is why I never did it.

I have a friend who does it and it pays well but she does remove all her clothes and pleasure herself. I can't imagine many people will pay to see someone dressed. I guess it's why phone chat lines aren't as popular as they once were

japonica friendly chat etc, obviously something to look at but nudity is only required for private shows (I guess because you can charge more for it)

YABU but understandable to want to earn money. Can you get a PT job in the field and save up that way?

To be quite honest I wouldn't have a problem with the nudity either.

But the YouTube thing is a good point to think about. I wonder if that happens a lot

I think you might come across some towering weirdos who could well put you off doing anymore of it quite quickly. No harm giving it a whirl if you think it might be useful, but, the internet is awash with oddities and sometimes it might need more than a long soak in the bath to clear the memories

Wear a wig and lots of makeup and if you do end up on YouTube and anyone recognises you then just swear blind it isn't you!

I should name change but fuck it, I have done it and it was a nice little earner I could easily earn £50 for an hour or two online, would still do it now if it weren't for my post baby belly.
The way I saw it is if anyone recognised me then they are the sad fuckers paying to view a woman online.

How would your DS feel about his mum doing this for dirty old fuckers the world over?

I never cease to be amazed by the double standards on this site.
If a man buys sexual services from a woman this site wants him shot at dawn. But it's OK for a woman to sell them! Unbelievable.

For my part if someone wants to sell a webcam service and someone wants to buy then fine.

£50 for two hours. Why not sell your soul to the devil?

Wear a mask and put plasters over any distinguishing moles and things. You'll be anonnymouse. Go for it.

Yes I realise the argument against female exploitation is subtle Hmm but let's keep it simple for the cheap seats

It's not ok for women to sell themselves because they are poor. It's a fucking travesty of capitalism.

Men with cash thinking it's ok to purchase women in poverty is also not ok - it makes them exploitative scum bags.

My DH has been looking at women on webcams.

Chorus of LTB, the sleazy perve...............Wink

It could be double standards, AICM, or it could be that the site has a number of women posting, each of whom has a different opinion.
